1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf you expected a gear drop from a Diablo IV World Boss and then tried to forge it, two different systems may be getting mixed together. Essence of Hellfire is described as rewarding Lair Boss Keys for surviving World Boss encounters; Sanctification happens separately at the Heavenly Forge and requires a Heavenly Sigil plus an eligible item. Check which reward or action you actually expected before troubleshooting.
First, confirm which game and system you mean
The Hellfire and Heavenly Forge clues point to Diablo IV, but similarly worded World Boss questions can refer to other Blizzard games. Blizzard Support’s article about “No Loot From Old Expansion World Boss” concerns older World of Warcraft content, not Diablo IV’s Essence of Hellfire or Sanctification rules: Blizzard Support: No Loot From Old Expansion World Boss. Do not apply that article’s loot or lockout guidance to Diablo IV.
In Diablo IV, distinguish between receiving the reward tied to Essence of Hellfire and Sanctifying an item at the Heavenly Forge. The official descriptions do not say that Hellfire World Boss equipment is itself forged there.
If Essence of Hellfire did not reward you
Blizzard’s 2.5.0 PTR overview describes Essence of Hellfire as a Divine Gift that awards Lair Boss Keys for surviving World Boss encounters, with the reward doubled while Purified. That description specifies keys; it does not promise that the encounter will drop a gear item. See Blizzard’s 2.5.0 PTR overview.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Check the expected reward: If you were looking for keys from Essence of Hellfire, check the Divine Gift and reward UI for the key reward. Do not treat the description as a guarantee of equipment.
- Confirm you survived the encounter: Survival is part of the reward condition in Blizzard’s PTR description.
- Check the live game’s wording: PTR descriptions can differ from final live behavior. Use the current in-game Divine Gift and reward details, along with the current patch notes, to verify how the system works on your build.
Blizzard has announced Azmodan as a permanent World Boss who can appear among the bosses invading Sanctuary, but that does not establish a guaranteed gear drop for every encounter. Check the encounter and reward UI in game. See Blizzard’s itemization and systems announcement.
If the Heavenly Forge will not open or an item will not Sanctify
Sanctification is a separate action. Blizzard describes Heavenly Sigils as the means of travelling to the Heavenly Forge, and says they are earned in Torment difficulties. Its Season of Divine Intervention announcement explains the Sigil system: Blizzard’s Season of Divine Intervention announcement.

- Check for a Heavenly Sigil: Without the access item, you cannot use the described route to the Heavenly Forge.
- Check the item’s current tooltip: Blizzard’s patch 2.5 notes state that an item must have item power 750 or higher in Torment difficulties to be Sanctified. The requirement is version-specific, so follow the live tooltip and patch notes if your game is on another build.
- Verify the current system rules: Blizzard’s Diablo IV patch notes document updates and fixes. Check the notes for your current version rather than assuming a 2.5 rule still applies unchanged.
What the available guidance does—and does not—establish
Blizzard’s official descriptions distinguish the Hellfire key reward from Heavenly Forge access and Sanctification eligibility. Its patch notes document system changes, but the cited material does not establish one current bug or universal fix for the combined symptom “loot won’t drop or forge.” That means the right diagnosis depends on whether the missing result is a key reward, a gear drop, Forge access, or item eligibility.
Use the current in-game reward UI and tooltip to identify which condition is failing. The official sources cited here describe Diablo IV Season 11 and patch 2.5 systems, including a PTR overview; exact live behavior can vary by build. They do not establish a regional difference.
