Nintendo confirms that version 2.0.0 arrived on December 9, 2025, but its published update notes do not name this specific fix, so the removal is guide-reported rather than officially confirmed.
Which shiny-hunting method was reportedly removed?
The likely target of the headline is a player-discovered Wild Zone 20 spawn exploit. Guides describe players accumulating extra alpha Pokémon around the area below Prism Tower, exceeding the zone’s usual two-alpha count. Some report that the setup could produce as many as six alphas at once.

More simultaneous alpha encounters meant more potential targets during repeated spawn resets, making the exploit useful to players hunting alpha shinies. The six-alpha maximum and the underlying mechanics come from secondary guides, not a Nintendo description of intended game behavior. Game8’s guide to alpha shiny-hunting locations and a PokéBase community answer describe the exploit and say it was patched.
What does version 2.0.0 confirm?
Nintendo’s update history lists version 2.0.0 as released on December 9, 2025. Its published notes do not specifically identify the Wild Zone 20 alpha-spawn exploit or say that it was removed. The available evidence therefore supports a careful conclusion: guides report the fix as part of version 2.0.0, while Nintendo’s public notes confirm the update date but not this particular change. What can you use instead?
Secondary shiny-hunting guides continue to describe ordinary ways to refresh nearby spawns, including fast travel, resting at a bench, and moving through an area transition. These approaches reroll or refresh encounters without relying on the reported Wild Zone 20 overload. Their usefulness depends on the target Pokémon and the nearby spawn group, so choose a reset point that lets you return to the encounters you want to check.
- Fast travel: Use a nearby travel point to leave and return, then check whether the target spawns have refreshed.
- Bench reset: Rest at a bench near the spawn group and revisit it to look for changed encounters.
- Area transition: Cross into another area and return to refresh nearby spawns.
Guides also discuss the Shiny Charm and systems introduced with the Mega Dimension DLC. Those options are version- and DLC-dependent; the available guides do not establish exact odds for every setup. Consult current guidance for your game version and whether you own the DLC rather than assuming an approach or rate applies to every player. HowToPlayHub’s shiny-hunting guide and PokéCommunity Daily’s guide cover these approaches.

Should you trust the shiny odds quoted in guides?
PokéCommunity Daily published a base shiny chance of 1 in 4,096 in its October 18, 2025 guide. That is a secondary-source figure, not an official Nintendo statistic, and it does not establish the odds for every version, charm status, or DLC configuration. Treat it as a guide’s stated base rate, not a guaranteed current rate for your specific hunt.
