An image circulated online in October 2024 claiming to show what is beneath Mimikyu’s disguise, with reports attributing it to confidential material from the Game Freak breach. It was not an official reveal: the image’s authenticity was unconfirmed, and the companies had not commented on that specific image when it was reported.
What the alleged Mimikyu image showed—and what is confirmed
ComicBook.com reported on October 29, 2024, that an image credited to Centro Leaks purported to show what was under Mimikyu’s cloth disguise. The social post reproduced by the article said, “After 8 years, we finally can see what’s under Mimikyu’s disguise.” That wording belongs to the post, not to an announcement from Game Freak or The Pokémon Company. ComicBook.com’s report cautioned that the image could be fake and noted that Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company had not commented on that specific material at the time.
So the careful answer to “what does Mimikyu look like under the disguise?” is that the reported leak made a claim, but did not establish a canonical design. The reviewed reporting does not authenticate the image or establish whether an official response appeared later.
What Game Freak confirmed about the breach
Game Freak confirmed that a third party accessed a company server in August 2024. In a statement reproduced by Nintendo Life, the company said personal information had been leaked, specifically the names and company email addresses of 2,606 employees and contract workers, including former workers. Game Freak said it was contacting affected people and had rebuilt and inspected the server. Nintendo Life’s report reproduces the company’s statement.

That acknowledgment confirms a breach and the specified personal-data exposure. It does not, by itself, verify every game-related file or image later attributed to the incident. The distinction matters here: the breach is confirmed; the Mimikyu image was reported as leak material but remained unverified in the cited coverage.
Why fans cared about what was under the cloth
Mimikyu is a Ghost/Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII’s Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Its character conceals itself beneath a cloth, and the contemporaneous report describes an in-universe belief that seeing what is underneath can cause illness, as well as Mimikyu’s sensitivity to sunlight. That mystery is the context for the image’s appeal—not evidence that the circulating picture was genuine. ComicBook.com’s article discusses that background.

What “after eight years” means
The “eight years” phrasing came from the attributed social post reproduced in the October 2024 report. It points back to Mimikyu’s Generation VII debut, rather than marking an official anniversary announcement or confirming a reveal. The image’s status is separate from the character’s established game history.
