Scoutflies published the most recent ranking covered here on July 16, 2026. Its endgame S tier includes four Mega or Mega+ Digimon. The guide weighs boss performance, Cross Arts, resource efficiency, roster coverage, and attributes; it does not report controlled win rates or damage benchmarks.

Insider Gaming’s October 14, 2025 guide offers a different lens: it includes progression-relevant options and discusses the investment needed to reach some forms. It predates the July 2026 update and later DLC context, so use it as an earlier guide rather than a current consensus.

How to choose a strong Digimon for your team
Match the pick to your current stage
A post-game tier can overvalue a form that takes substantial rank, skills, or evolution work to obtain. For story progression, prioritize what you can access and what helps with the encounters immediately ahead; reassess once you have the unlocks and resources for Mega and Mega+ options.
Cover roles and attributes
Think about what your party lacks: reliable damage, healing or support, or coverage against a particular attribute. Scoutflies describes the attribute advantage cycle as Vaccine over Virus, Virus over Data, and Data over Vaccine, and identifies Free as a useful coverage option. Confirm matchup details in battle rather than assuming this cycle settles every encounter.

There is no evidence here for one best six-Digimon party across the whole game. The right lineup depends on the enemy, your available forms, and the skills and equipment you have equipped.
Build the Digimon, not just the species
Bandai Namco’s official gameplay guide explains that Attachment Skills and equipment can change a Digimon’s capabilities, while personality and stat growth affect which Digivolutions become available. Evolution is nonlinear: De-Digivolution lets you return to a younger form and pursue another path. A tier placement therefore describes potential, not a guaranteed result from simply adding that species to your roster.

Bandai Namco’s update notes, published July 8, 2026, list PS5 version 01.000.012, Xbox Series X|S version 1.13.1.0, Steam build 23514637, and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 version 1.2.1. The update adds a Digivolution Conditions screen to the Digifarm and a Terriermon Assistant mode change. The publisher recommends installing the latest update for your platform. Edition and platform matter when considering roster additions. Nintendo’s listing describes a Standard Edition and a July 10, 2026 release date. Bandai Namco says the Season Pass includes three DLC packs, each with five additional Digimon and an additional story episode; Switch pack releases were scheduled for July 16, 23, and 30, 2026. Check the store listing for your platform and edition to confirm access. Nintendo describes the game as having more than 450 Digimon in its roster.
On September 3, 2026, Bandai Namco announced A Hero’s Eternal Legacy, planned for 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, with more than 50 new Digimon. That announced future content is not included in the rankings above; new roster options may change how players assess team coverage and endgame picks. See the expansion announcement.
