If harvesting in Disney Dreamlight Valley is not working, first identify what is failing: a character may freeze, a golden harvest may not allow repeat collection, a crop may become unharvestable, or a quest herb may not respond. - Quest herb will not collect: A herb or foraged crop needed for a quest, such as basil, oregano, or vanilla, does not respond to the harvest interaction.
- Ancient Gardener does not water: This concerns the garden device’s watering behavior, not a failed manual harvest.
Because these behaviors differ, a workaround for one should not be assumed to repair another.
What Gameloft has acknowledged
Freezing while planting or harvesting
Gameloft Help Center’s article, “My Character constantly freezes while harvesting or planting,” acknowledges characters freezing during those activities and says the team is working on the issue. The article advises players to watch for future updates. Its indexed update age was about 601 days when checked on October 8, 2026, so it confirms that Gameloft documented the issue, but does not establish whether it remains unresolved now. Check current game updates or support information for status.

Ancient Garden not watering crops

The stated purpose is to prompt it to water the seeds. What to try for an unharvestable crop or failed bonus pickup
A player discussion dated August 1, 2026 describes bonus items not being collected after a critical harvest, followed by a crop that could not be harvested. A commenter suggested restarting and contacting support if the problem continued. This is anecdotal advice, not an official or guaranteed repair.

- Restart the game as a low-risk attempt. Restarting was suggested in the discussion, but the report does not confirm that it fixes the issue.

If quest herbs will not harvest
A player report dated August 5, 2026 describes being unable to collect quest-related crops such as basil, oregano, and vanilla, and says the player contacted Gameloft. It does not establish a general remedy. When reporting this symptom, specify the exact herb, quest, platform, game version, and what happens when you interact with it; this helps distinguish a quest-specific interaction problem from a crop-state issue.

What details help narrow down the problem
There is no established universal cause or platform-by-platform fix for the broad phrase “harvesting is not working.” For a useful support report, capture the details that separate the known symptom categories:
- Platform and game version or most recent update.
- Exact crop or herb, and the quest name if it is quest-related.
- Whether you were harvesting manually or the issue involved an Ancient Gardener.
- Whether the character froze, a golden effect appeared, a bonus drop failed to collect, or the crop simply would not respond.
- What happened after restarting, if you tried it.
Do not change your console or PC clock as a workaround: the available evidence does not show that time manipulation repairs these harvest symptoms.
