A loading hang does not point to one confirmed cause or one universal fix: the right next step depends on your platform, where loading stops, whether an error appears, and whether the problem began after an update.
First, identify where loading stops
Before changing settings, note whether the game fails to launch, hangs at a logo, stops before the menu, gets stuck during sign-in or an update, or freezes while loading a save. Record your platform—PC or Mac, console, or mobile/Apple Arcade edition—and any exact error text or code. These details help distinguish a startup problem from a connection, update, or save-loading issue.
Gameloft’s official support center includes technical help, known issues, and contact options. Its Known Issues information can change, so check the current listing for a problem matching your platform and symptoms. The available official information does not establish a general loading-screen issue affecting all players; that does not rule out a platform-specific or newly reported problem.

Close the game completely and restart the device
Exit the game rather than leaving it suspended, close other running apps, and reboot the device. Gameloft recommends these general steps for freezes and loading hangs. They are sensible first checks, not a diagnosis of what caused a particular Dreamlight Valley problem.

Check for a game update
Install any pending update before trying again. The game requires internet access to update. If you use cross-save across multiple devices, Gameloft’s September 15, 2022 patch notes advised updating the game on all platforms before switching devices.

Check whether this step needs internet
Gameloft says offline play is supported, so a network problem is not automatically the reason a game hangs at startup. Internet is required to download and activate the game and to install updates. If the failure happens during one of those steps, check that your connection is working.

Check Wi-Fi and available storage
Confirm that Wi-Fi is stable, that other apps or people on the network are not using all available capacity, and that the device has free space. These are general Gameloft customer-care checks, not confirmed Dreamlight Valley-specific fixes.

Look for a matching official issue or contact support
If the game is still stuck, review the live Dreamlight Valley support and Known Issues pages. If no listed issue fits, contact Gameloft and include your platform, game version, where loading stops, exact error text or code, and the steps you have already tried.

Why older advice may mention Error #7
A specific loading-screen bug did exist in the past. In its September 15, 2022 patch notes, Gameloft said it had “Fixed Error #7, which caused some players to experience an issue with the game sticking on the loading screen if they quit the game while having the ‘Well Fed’ active buff.” The notes mark that issue as fixed in that patch; they do not show that Error #7 is a current widespread cause. Do not delete your save, unlink your account, or reinstall the game as a blanket fix. The available official guidance does not establish those actions as safe or effective for loading problems across platforms. If basic checks fail, use the official support route and provide the details needed to assess your particular case.
