Disney Lorcana TCG: Hyperia City is an upcoming city-themed expansion built around Coco glimmers and a new temporary-ink mechanic called ink drops. Ravensburger has scheduled prerelease for October 16, 2026, followed by wider availability on October 23. Those dates are still ahead, so this is a preview of revealed details—not hands-on impressions from played games.
What is Hyperia City?
Ravensburger describes Hyperia City as a place “where metro meets the fantastical.” The September 22, 2026 announcement frames the set around distinct urban neighborhoods: City Center, Wandering Straits, Old Towne Hyperia, and the Marigold District. Its visual and narrative emphasis is city life, nightlife, music, and art rather than a single film setting.
The announcement calls Coco glimmers a debut for the set. The official product page highlights Miguel Rivera, Héctor Rivera, Ernesto de la Cruz, and Pepita, along with Coco songs. It also previews glimmers associated with Big Hero 6 and Zootopia, as well as returning Disney favorites including Disney Princesses and Mickey Mouse. These are examples from the preview material, not a complete card checklist.
What are ink drops?
Ravensburger describes an ink drop as a counter that provides temporary, one-time-use ink. Players may spend it to play cards from their hand or, depending on the card, empower another card. The product page says the temporary ink is placed in the inkwell and can help deploy cards faster; its examples of possible effects include drawing cards, boosting stats, and upgrading actions.

The practical effect will depend on the specific card and how its effect is used. These descriptions explain the publisher’s intended mechanic, but they do not establish how much it will change actual matches or competitive strategies. Lead Game Designer Lukas Litzsinger said in the announcement, “Ink drops can completely change the tempo of a game.” That is his view of the mechanic, not a measured gameplay result.

What these first impressions can—and cannot—tell you
Before prerelease, the strongest supported impression is of a set with a distinctive urban-fantasy setting, prominent Coco material, and a mechanic Ravensburger says can provide temporary flexibility in how players spend ink. The revealed locations and card examples suggest connections across several Disney properties, but they are not enough to assess the full set or its balance.
Actual play will determine whether ink drops meaningfully change pacing, which cards make the mechanic worthwhile, and how the new cards fit into existing decks. The official Lorcana news index lists an October 8 Lorecast intended to review set notes and answer rules questions, but that event is after the September 22 announcement and its outcome is not covered by the available information here.
