In Path of Exile 2, “Distilled Emotions” is the former name for Liquid Emotions. The official 0.3.0 update renamed the item, and 0.4.0 removed its use on Waystones. Liquid Emotions remain tied to Delirium and can be used to instill amulets, though the exact current recipe for a particular notable should be checked in-game.

What are Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2?

Distilled Emotions were Delirium-related items used to instill equipment. Grinding Gear Games renamed them Liquid Emotions in the official 0.3.0 patch notes. The older name still appears in guides and searches, but Liquid Emotions is the current term in the official notes.

The item is an in-game mechanic, not a physical product. Its current role is chiefly associated with instilling amulets; older guides also describe Waystone use, but that advice is no longer current.

What can you use Liquid Emotions for?

Instilling an amulet

Amulet instilling remains a supported use. It applies a notable passive skill to an amulet, but the exact combinations required for individual notables are not established here as current. Check the amulet’s in-game instilling interface or current in-game descriptions before spending materials; do not rely on a recipe from an older guide without confirming it.

Waystones: an older use that was removed

Do not use Liquid Emotions on Waystones. Grinding Gear Games states in the official 0.4.0 patch notes: “Waystones can no longer be instilled using Liquid Emotions.” Older guides describing that use predate the change.

Where do Liquid Emotions drop?

The official 0.4.0 notes describe these sources and drop guarantees:

Encounter Liquid Emotion drop Higher-tier chance
Delirium monsters Chance to drop Not stated in the 0.4.0 patch notes
Delirium bosses Guaranteed Increased chance of higher tiers
Simulacrum boss waves Guaranteed Chance of a higher tier

These are the drop rules described in the 0.4.0 patch notes; they do not establish a specific drop quantity or a guarantee from ordinary Delirium monsters.

How to read older Distilled Emotions guides

A January 2025 guide describes the earlier name, Delirium drops, and amulet instilling. It predates the official 0.3.0 rename and the 0.4.0 Waystone change, so treat its terminology as historical and verify any recipe or Waystone instruction against the live game.
