dllpnt32.dll is a third-party application file, not a Windows system DLL. The safest fix for a dllpnt32.dll missing or not found error is to repair or reinstall the older program that originally installed it.
The file is described as PoINT Shared DLL, belongs to the DLLPNT32 program, and was developed by PoINT Software & Systems GmbH. Public file inventories most strongly associate it with legacy MAGIX software, including older Music Maker, MP3 Maker, Music Studio, and related audio or video products.
Identify dllpnt32.dll before repairing anything
| Item | What is known |
|---|---|
| File name | dllpnt32.dll |
| Description | PoINT Shared DLL |
| Internal product name | DLLPNT32 |
| Publisher | PoINT Software & Systems GmbH |
| File type | Third-party application DLL |
| Windows component | No |
| Most documented association | Older MAGIX applications |
| Correct repair source | The original application installer or official recovery source |
The filename suggests a 32-bit component, and older application inventories identify it with Win32 software. However, the exact version, size, architecture, signature, and hash of the copy needed by your program should be taken from the original application package rather than guessed from a DLL website.

A missing DLL error often appears when the program starts, but the file may be missing because an antivirus product removed it, a partial uninstall damaged the installation, or an update left old components behind.
Fix dllpnt32.dll in the correct order
1. Repair the affected application
Application repair is the best first step because it restores the correct DLL version and any other files that depend on it.
Repair through Windows Settings
For a program that supports Windows repair:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find the application named in the error.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Start the program again.
If the application opens, the repair restored the missing component. If the error remains, return to the same screen and select Reset only if you have backed up the program’s settings and understand that Reset may remove application data.
Repair a traditional desktop program
Older MAGIX applications may use the classic installer rather than Windows’ modern repair interface.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Find the affected program in Programs and Features.
- Right-click it.
- Select Repair or Change, if available.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows and test the program.
If there is no Repair option, use the original installer and choose Repair, Change, or an equivalent maintenance option.
If the program came from installation media, an OEM recovery package, Steam, or another launcher, use that same source’s repair or verify-files function. Do not replace the DLL with a copy downloaded separately.
2. Reinstall the exact application
If repair does not restore dllpnt32.dll, reinstall the program that needs it.
Before uninstalling, back up projects, presets, saved recordings, license information, and custom folders. Then:

A clean reinstall should place dllpnt32.dll beside the application executable or in one of that application’s shared-component folders. It should not normally place the file in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Current versions of an application may not contain the same legacy files as older releases. For example, current MAGIX Music Maker requirements target 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11, while an older installation may depend on 32-bit components. If the old program cannot run reliably on your Windows version, use a supported replacement or a publisher-supported version instead of forcing an unverified DLL into the installation.
3. Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove a legitimate old DLL because legacy applications often use outdated packaging or components.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Open Start.
- Search for Windows Security.
- Open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an entry mentioning
dllpnt32.dllor the affected application. - Expand the entry and read the detection details.
Restore the file only when all of these conditions are true:
- The file belongs to the application you recognize.
- The application came from trusted original media or an official publisher source.
- The quarantine record identifies the same application folder.
- A security scan does not show broader signs of infection.
If you are uncertain, leave the file quarantined. Reinstall the application from trusted media and run a full Windows Security scan instead. Do not disable antivirus protection simply to copy a DLL into a Windows folder.
If the file returns to quarantine after every reinstall, investigate the detection name, scan the whole computer, check the application installer, and consider that the old program may be unsafe or incompatible.
4. Confirm that the application has the right architecture
A 32-bit application needs its 32-bit dependencies, even when it runs on 64-bit Windows. Installing a 64-bit replacement does not satisfy a 32-bit program.
Do not use the 32 in the filename as proof that every copy is interchangeable. The DLL must match the application package, its build, and its dependencies.
To check whether the application is installed in a typical 32-bit location:
Rank #3
- MICROSOFT WINDOWS 11 PRO (INGLES) FPP 64-BIT ENG INTL USB FLASH DRIVE
- Right-click the application shortcut.
- Select Open file location.
- Review the folder shown in File Explorer.
- Check whether the application is under
C:Program Files (x86)or another vendor-specific folder.
This location is only a clue, not proof of compatibility. Restore the DLL from the same installer or application version whenever possible.
If the error says the program is not designed to run on Windows, or reports a status such as 0xc000012f, the file may be corrupt, the wrong architecture, or incompatible with the program. Reinstalling the owning application is safer than downloading a replacement.

5. Check for a missing dependency
Windows can report that a named DLL is missing when the DLL exists but one of its dependencies is absent. The message “the specified module could not be found” does not always mean that dllpnt32.dll itself is gone.
Check the application folder:
- Open the folder containing the program’s main executable.
- Search for
dllpnt32.dll. - If it exists, right-click it and select Properties.
- Check the General tab for its location and file details.
- Do not move it to another folder.
If the file exists in the application folder but the program still fails, repair or reinstall the entire application. The missing item may be another bundled DLL or a runtime required by the program.
Install Visual C++ components only when the actual error names a Visual C++ runtime file or the application’s installer specifically requires them. Microsoft provides separate x86 and x64 redistributable packages; a 32-bit application generally needs the x86 package. Installing unrelated runtimes will not recreate a PoINT DLL.
6. Run Windows component repairs as a secondary check
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows components and protected Windows files. They are useful when several Windows programs are failing, but they are not a guaranteed way to restore a third-party DLL from an application folder.

If only the old application fails while other programs work, return to application repair rather than repeatedly running SFC.

Running these commands manually can make it difficult to identify which component changed. Outbyte PC Repair provides a free scan that shows reported problems, while repair is performed by the full version; it is optional, and reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix for a DLL that belongs to that program.
7. Update or reinstall related drivers only when evidence points there
A graphics, audio, or storage driver does not normally supply dllpnt32.dll. Driver work is relevant only if the application also reports device errors, crashes after a hardware change, or shows a warning in Device Manager.
To check Device Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand categories such as Sound, video and game controllers, Display adapters, or Storage controllers.
- Look for a yellow warning icon.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
To reinstall a device driver:
- Right-click the device in Device Manager.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Confirm only if you have a trusted replacement driver or Windows can reinstall it.
- Restart Windows.
- Allow Windows Update or the hardware manufacturer’s installer to restore the driver.
Do not uninstall a working device merely because dllpnt32.dll is missing. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what it found, while driver installation is handled by the full version; use this only as an optional convenience when Device Manager or the application provides evidence of a driver problem.
8. Consider System Restore for a recent failure
If the program worked recently and the error began after an update or software removal, System Restore may return the application and system configuration to an earlier state.
- Open Start.
- Search for Create a restore point.
- Open the result.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the error began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Follow the prompts to start the restoration.
System Restore rolls back system settings and installed programs, but it does not normally remove personal files. Microsoft’s recovery options explain the available recovery paths.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not download a random DLL
Avoid DLL download databases, “DLL fixer” utilities, file-sharing pages, and copies supplied in forum replies. A downloaded file may contain malware, be the wrong version, use the wrong architecture, or lack the other files the application needs. It can also hide the real cause, such as antivirus quarantine or a damaged installation.
Use the original application installer, trusted installation media, the publisher’s official account download, or the application’s repair feature instead.
Do not copy it into System32 or SysWOW64
dllpnt32.dll is not a Windows component. Copying it into both system folders is unsafe and does not correctly repair an application dependency. A 32-bit program normally searches its own installation directory and configured application paths.
If an unexpected copy appears in a Windows system directory, do not assume it is authentic. Check its origin, scan it, and repair the owning application.
Do not run regsvr32 automatically
Most application DLLs are loaded by the program and do not need registration. regsvr32 applies to DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer; there is no verified evidence that dllpnt32.dll requires COM registration.
If the application’s official instructions explicitly require registration, use the exact command supplied for that application. Otherwise, do not run:

regsvr32 dllpnt32.dll
If regsvr32 reports that an entry point was not found, that confirms registration is not appropriate. Reinstall the application instead. Microsoft explains regsvr32 behavior in its command documentation.
If dllpnt32.dll is still missing after reinstalling
Record the following details:
- The full error message
- The affected executable name and path
- Your Windows version
- The application version, if shown
- Whether
dllpnt32.dllexists in the application folder - Whether Windows Security quarantined it
- Whether the program came from original media, an OEM package, or a launcher
Then contact the application publisher or PoINT support with that information. If every reinstall restores the file and it later disappears, investigate antivirus logs, disk errors, permissions, and possible malware.
If the software is no longer supported and cannot run on your Windows release, stop replacing individual DLLs. Move projects and personal data to a supported application or obtain a current version from the publisher.
Frequently asked questions
Is dllpnt32.dll part of Windows?
No. Available file information identifies it as a third-party PoINT Shared DLL associated with the DLLPNT32 program. Windows does not normally provide it through System32, SysWOW64, SFC, or Windows Update.
