The REDMAGIC 10S Pro+ has the hardware to make a convincing case: a high-clocked Snapdragon chip, a built-in fan, a 144Hz screen, shoulder triggers and a huge battery. But “hardcore” is not a benchmark score. It means keeping games smooth through long sessions, providing controls that help rather than hinder, and making sense as a phone outside Game Space. On those measures, this is a serious gaming device with real compromises—and the Chinese Pro+ is not the same phone U.S. buyers are most likely to find.
First, the Pro+ is not the same as the global 10S Pro
REDMAGIC launched the 10S Pro and 10S Pro+ in China on May 26, 2025. Both use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Edition and RedCore R3 Pro gaming chip, but the Pro+ is distinguished chiefly by its larger battery and faster charging. The Chinese Pro+ has a 7,500mAh battery and 120W charging; the globally marketed 10S Pro has a 7,050mAh battery and 80W charging. Those are regional configurations, not interchangeable names for one universal model. Gadgets 360’s launch report covers the Chinese models, while REDMAGIC’s North American listing describes the global 10S Pro.
That distinction matters especially in the United States. The North American store page listed the 10S Pro at $649, reduced from $699, for the 12GB/256GB version when checked on August 18, 2026, but showed it as sold out. The page also lists 16GB/512GB and 24GB/1TB versions. There is no verified official U.S. checkout listing for the Pro+ in the available sources; the Chinese model launched at CNY 5,999 to CNY 7,499 depending on configuration. An import should not be treated as an official North American purchase.

What would make a phone “hardcore”?
Peak speed is only one part of gaming performance. A genuinely gaming-focused phone should keep frame pacing stable after heat builds up, respond reliably to touch, provide useful controls, last through a session, and avoid making play uncomfortable with heat or fan noise. It also needs game support for high refresh rates and any frame-boosting features it advertises. Extra RAM, RGB lighting or a higher clock alone do not prove that games will look or feel better.

The chip is faster, but real-game gains depend on the title
The Leading Version is an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite. TechRadar reports CPU clocks rising from 4.32GHz to 4.47GHz and GPU clocks from 1,100MHz to 1,200MHz compared with the standard chip, alongside REDMAGIC claims of 30% better power and 40% better NPU performance. Those percentages are manufacturer claims, not universal gaming gains. TechRadar’s review found the difference was not obvious in ordinary gaming because the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite already handled demanding Play Store games well.
Many games impose their own frame-rate caps. If a title is limited to 60fps or 90fps on both phones, extra chip headroom may not change what you see. Its more plausible advantage is maintaining performance under sustained heat, rather than making every game visibly faster in the first minute. A meaningful comparison needs the same game version, settings, resolution, frame-rate cap, performance and fan modes, ambient temperature, and test duration; a headline benchmark cannot answer all of that.
Cooling is the 10S generation’s strongest gaming argument
REDMAGIC advertises a 10-layer ICE-X system with Composite Liquid Metal 2.0, a 12,000 mm² vapor chamber, graphene, copper foil, an aluminum air duct and a 23,000-rpm centrifugal fan. These are manufacturer specifications. The fan and heat-spreading hardware are designed to help the phone sustain demanding workloads, but a lower internal temperature does not automatically mean a cooler surface in every grip, nor does an average frame rate reveal stutters or poor 1% lows.

REDMAGIC’s own 60-minute laboratory comparison reports 120.2fps versus 60fps, 39.9°C versus 44°C, and eight hours versus 5.9 hours. Those are vendor test results, not independent universal expectations; the cited product page does not establish all the variables needed to reproduce them, including the comparison device and full game and settings details. Treat them as evidence of what REDMAGIC claims under its test conditions, not a promise for a particular game. REDMAGIC’s product page also lists supported frame-boosting titles including Genshin Impact, Wild Rift and Call of Duty: Mobile.
An active fan has costs as well as benefits: audible noise, dust intake, extra power use, and a mechanical part that can fail. It may also be unnecessary for shorter or less demanding play. Serious buyers should weigh stable play over a long session against those trade-offs rather than treating the fan as a free performance upgrade.
A 144Hz screen and triggers help only when the game supports them
The 6.85-inch AMOLED display runs at 2688 × 1216 and up to 144Hz, with touch sampling reported up to 960Hz. A 144Hz panel does not make every game render at 144 frames per second: game support, settings and caps determine what actually appears. Frame-boosting modes can make supported titles look smoother, but are not necessarily equivalent to native rendering in image quality or responsiveness.

The global 10S Pro’s 520Hz shoulder triggers can map to on-screen actions, freeing thumbs for aiming and movement in shooters or controlling a camera in other games. They are not a replacement for a full controller layout, and mapping support and usefulness vary by game. In competitive titles, check the game’s rules before using overlays, macros or automation; a feature being present on the phone does not mean every game permits it. Capacitive controls can also be less dependable with wet fingers, gloves or an awkward grip.

Battery size is a regional advantage, not a gaming-endurance guarantee
The Chinese Pro+’s 7,500mAh cell and 120W wired charging exceed the global 10S Pro’s 7,050mAh and 80W. REDMAGIC says the global phone can last up to 52 hours in ordinary use and fully charge in 40 minutes under its stated conditions; these are manufacturer claims, not gaming runtimes. Screen brightness, frame rate, signal strength, fan mode and the game itself can sharply change battery use. The official product page gives the global specifications and claims.
Fast charging figures are also not directly comparable without the correct charger, cable and regional charging protocol; the advertised wattage is not a guarantee that the phone takes that power continuously. Heavy charging can add heat. For long sessions, charge-separation or bypass-charging features can matter more than a peak wattage because they may reduce battery charging while the phone is powered. Larger batteries also mean a heavier, thicker device, and battery longevity depends in part on temperature and charging habits.

It is a gaming phone first, not a camera-first all-rounder
The under-display 16-megapixel front camera keeps the screen uninterrupted, but that design comes at a cost to selfie quality. The rear cameras include 50-megapixel sensors, yet TechRadar found the camera system well behind the phone’s gaming strengths and described the front camera as poor for selfies. If you regularly photograph people, travel or events, this is a meaningful compromise, not a minor specification footnote.
RedMagic OS and Game Space provide gaming modes, overlays and performance controls, but TechRadar also found the software cluttered and somewhat glitchy. The phone’s gaming-first interface may suit players who want those tools; it is less compelling if polished everyday software, photography, productivity and long support matter just as much as play.

Buying the Pro+ in the United States requires extra checks
The North American 10S Pro listing says REDMAGIC offers a 12-month phone warranty and a six-month accessory warranty. It states three years of software support outside the EU and UK, while EU/UK customers receive five years under applicable regulations. Those are policy statements for the official listing and can change by region or model; they should not be assumed to cover a Chinese-market import. Check the current store terms and compatibility guidance before buying.

A Chinese Pro+ import can differ in carrier bands, firmware, preinstalled services, Google Play or Android Auto availability, charger plug and charging behavior, NFC or payment support, warranty and returns. Before paying, confirm the exact model number and supported bands with your carrier, ask the seller about Google services and regional firmware, verify charger and warranty coverage in writing, and understand the return and repair process. An importer’s listing is not proof that the phone will behave like the official global 10S Pro.
What to buy instead in 2026
The 10S Pro+ was a 2025 launch, and newer REDMAGIC generations are available by August 2026. If you are shopping for a current performance leader rather than evaluating this generation, compare the REDMAGIC 11 Pro and REDMAGIC 11S Pro, and check current price, stock and regional terms. TechRadar’s 2026 gaming-phone guide names the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro its overall pick, though it is also an older generation by this point.

At its historical $649 North American listing price, the global 10S Pro could be attractive value if officially stocked again and if its compromises suit you. The Pro+’s Chinese launch price is not a useful direct U.S. buying price: import costs, warranty and carrier support can change the calculation. Do not compare its 120W charging or 7,500mAh capacity with the global Pro as though both come from the same regional SKU.

Who should buy it?
- Consider it if you play demanding games for long sessions, value active cooling and a large battery, will use shoulder triggers, and care more about sustained play than photography.
- Skip it if your games are mostly capped at 60fps, you want excellent selfies, prefer compact or understated phones, or need highly polished software and longer support.
- For U.S. buyers, be cautious about an imported Pro+. Buy only after confirming model, carrier bands, services, charger, warranty and returns; if the official global 10S Pro is unavailable, compare newer models before accepting those risks.
