Yes. A YouTube livestream replay can earn ad revenue after the broadcast ends if the replay exists, your channel is eligible for the relevant monetization features, monetization is enabled, and the video meets YouTube’s policies. You can enable ads while streaming or after the replay is published—but enabling ads does not guarantee that ads will appear or that the replay will earn.
What has to be true for a replay to earn?
- The replay must exist and be accessible. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. The 12-hour figure is an archive consideration, not a monetization threshold. You can also change the replay’s privacy setting or delete it.
- Your channel and video must be eligible. For ad and YouTube Premium revenue from long-form or live-streaming videos on the Watch Page, YouTube requires creators to accept the Watch Page Monetization Module and meet applicable eligibility requirements.
- Monetization must be enabled for the replay. YouTube lets creators choose ads from the time they stream or add them after the stream has been published.
- The video must pass YouTube’s monetization and advertiser suitability checks. Age restrictions, advertiser suitability, and advertiser choices can limit or prevent monetization.
A replay is a video on your channel, so the broadcast ending does not by itself prevent later monetization. See YouTube’s Watch Page monetization requirements, guidance on how ads work on live streams, and YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Can you turn ads on after the stream is published?
Yes. YouTube’s guidance says ads can be included from when you stream or added after the stream has been published, at any point during the video’s lifetime. You do not have to have enabled ads during the broadcast to switch monetization on later, provided the channel and replay are eligible.
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the replay’s video details or monetization controls.
- Check that the channel has the required monetization eligibility and has accepted the Watch Page Monetization Module.
- Review the replay’s monetization setting and any policy or suitability status, then enable monetization if available.
- Later, check YouTube Analytics with the Live filter to see whether the live stream or replay generated revenue.
YouTube cautions that choosing to turn on ads does not mean ads will automatically open on a video. Ad delivery and earnings depend on YouTube’s systems and the video’s eligibility; not every viewer will necessarily see an ad.

What if the replay is private, unlisted, or missing?
It is private or unlisted
Privacy affects who can access the replay. It does not replace the channel, video, and policy eligibility requirements for monetization. If viewers cannot access the replay, they cannot watch it; use the privacy setting that matches your intended audience.
It is missing
Check YouTube Studio and the channel’s live content. Streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If no replay was created, there is no replay video to monetize.

It was deleted
A deleted replay is no longer available to viewers as a channel video. Check the archive and privacy settings before deleting a broadcast if you want its replay to remain accessible.
Why might an enabled replay earn little or nothing?
- No ad was served. Monetization being on is not a promise that an ad will appear for every viewer or playback.
- The video is limited by suitability or policy status. Advertiser suitability and age restrictions can limit or prevent monetization.
- The replay or channel is not eligible. Confirm the channel’s applicable YouTube Partner Program eligibility and the Watch Page Monetization Module status.
- The archive is unavailable. A stream that was not captured, or a replay that has been deleted, cannot earn replay views as an available video.
There is no reliable fixed payout per replay view established by these rules. Do not infer an earnings rate from the fact that live and replay revenue is displayed in Analytics.

Does running a stream continuously change replay monetization?
No special replay earning guarantee follows from keeping a channel live around the clock. A replay still depends on an accessible archive, channel and video eligibility, enabled monetization, policy status, and actual ad serving. For a gaming channel that wants prerecorded gameplay to remain live on YouTube, StreamNeo is a cloud service that loops uploaded videos or playlists; it does not make ads or replay revenue guaranteed.
Or let it run in the cloud
Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo keeps the stream running from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it includes 10 GB storage per slot (pooled across active slots), playlists, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded video on YouTube, not a live camera feed. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
