Yes—many Alienware headsets work with PS5, but the dependable connection depends on the model. A 3.5-mm cable plugged into the DualSense controller is the safest option for game audio and, with a compatible four-pole headset cable, voice chat. A USB wireless receiver may work only if the PS5 recognizes that specific receiver. Do not count on direct Bluetooth pairing.
Alienware headset compatibility with PS5 by model
“Alienware headset” covers wired and wireless products with different connection options. Compatibility with one model or connection method does not prove compatibility with another.

For the AW720H, AW725H, and AW920H, the cable end intended for the headset matters: Dell warns that reversing the cable can prevent proper operation. The AW510H is the clearest documented console case; for other models, use the wired path first if you need a reliable setup.

- Use the headset’s supplied 3.5-mm cable if available. Confirm that it has microphone conductors (a four-pole/TRRS headset connection) if you want voice chat; a stereo-only cable can deliver sound without mic input.
- For models with a designated headset-side plug, connect that end to the headset’s headset or boom-mic port. On the AW720H, AW725H, and AW920H, do not reverse the cable.
- Plug the other end into the 3.5-mm jack on the DualSense controller.
- Press the PS button and open Control Center > Sound. Select the connected headset or controller output if needed.
- If audio is still coming from the TV, open Settings > Sound > Audio Output, check Output Device, and set Output to Headphones to All Audio if you want game sound as well as chat. Sony documents these output controls in its PS5 audio-output guide.
- For chat, open Settings > Sound > Microphone, choose the headset/controller microphone as the input device, and use Adjust Microphone Level to check that the meter responds.
This method sends analog audio through the controller and does not require Alienware Command Center. The trade-offs are a cable between headset and controller and some use of the controller’s battery.

Using an Alienware USB wireless receiver
The AW720H, AW725H, and AW920H have wireless connection options, but having a USB receiver or USB charging port does not guarantee that a PS5 will recognize the headset as a USB audio device. Dell’s product documentation describes their connection modes; it does not establish universal PS5 support for every receiver or revision. PC compatibility, including configuration through Alienware Command Center, is not proof of console compatibility.
- If Dell provides a firmware update for your model, install it using a compatible computer before testing the headset on PS5.
- Disconnect the receiver from the computer and plug it directly into a PS5 USB port rather than an unverified hub.
- Turn on the headset and confirm that it is in the receiver/2.4-GHz mode, not Bluetooth mode.
- On PS5, check Settings > Sound > Audio Output for a receiver or headset output, then check Settings > Sound > Microphone for an input device.
- Test game audio and microphone input separately. If either device does not appear or work, try another USB port once, then use the 3.5-mm DualSense connection.
If wireless audio cuts out, test with the receiver away from other USB 3.0 devices and remove unused wireless adapters. Sony recommends spacing wireless adapters from USB 3.0 devices when troubleshooting interference. (Sony wireless-headset troubleshooting)
Can you pair an Alienware headset to PS5 over Bluetooth?
Do not assume so. Bluetooth on a headset means it can connect to compatible host devices; it does not mean the PS5 supports that headset for game audio and chat. Sony’s wireless-headset guidance focuses on supported USB adapters, while Alienware’s Bluetooth mode is a separate connection option. Direct Bluetooth pairing is not a dependable or verified PS5 method for the models covered here. Use the DualSense’s 3.5-mm jack, or test the specific USB receiver for PS5 recognition.

Troubleshoot no sound or chat input
No sound
- Raise the headset’s volume and check that the headset or controller is not muted.
- Unplug and reconnect the 3.5-mm cable at both ends. On AW720H, AW725H, and AW920H, check that the designated headset-side plug is at the headset.
- If using 3.5 mm on an AW720H, AW725H, or AW920H, disconnect USB-C charging while testing. Dell documents that analog audio can be muted while these headsets are connected to USB-C power.
- In Settings > Sound > Audio Output, confirm the output device and set Output to Headphones to All Audio if game sound is missing.
- Test another cable or DualSense controller if available. If using USB wireless, verify the receiver appears in the PS5 sound menus; charging over USB is not the same as USB audio.

Game audio works, but the microphone does not
- Check that the cable supports microphone input; use a compatible four-pole headset cable rather than a stereo-only cable.
- Make sure the boom or inline microphone is fully connected and the correct cable end is at the headset.
- Press the DualSense mute button once to ensure the controller microphone mute is off.
- Open Settings > Sound > Microphone, select the headset/controller input, and speak while watching Adjust Microphone Level.
- If the meter does not move, reconnect the cable and test another controller. If the meter moves but party members cannot hear you, check the party or game’s own voice-chat settings.

Microphone works, but game sound does not
Check whether Output to Headphones is set to chat audio rather than All Audio, and confirm that PS5 has selected the controller/headset rather than HDMI/TV output. Also check the headset volume and disconnect USB-C charging if using an affected wireless model’s analog connection.

PS5 can apply its headphone 3D Audio feature to compatible headphone output paths. Open Settings > Sound > 3D Audio (Headphones) to enable it and choose or create a profile. Sony explains personalized 3D Audio profiles and headphone presets. This is separate from Alienware’s PC-side virtual-surround or “7.1” processing; do not assume Alienware software effects run on PS5.

If you already own one, try the 3.5-mm DualSense connection before replacing it. If you are buying specifically for wireless PS5 play, prioritize a headset whose USB wireless support is explicitly documented for PS5. Alienware wireless models may still suit someone who wants multiple connection modes and accepts using a cable on PS5, but Bluetooth branding alone is not a reason to expect direct PS5 pairing. Alienware Command Center is computer software, not a PS5 app; PC profiles and other software-dependent features may not be available on the console.
