Yes. Black Myth: Wukong has a PS5 physical edition with the full game on a Blu-ray disc. The claim that its physical editions would use codes instead of discs described Game Science’s original June 2024 plan; the later PS5 release changed that. The Digital Deluxe extras are provided separately by download code.
Why was Black Myth: Wukong originally announced without a disc?
In June 2024, Game Science said the physical editions then being planned would contain activation codes rather than game discs. The studio cited the practical demands of global physical distribution. GameSpot reported the explanation as: “It is the first time for Game Science to release a console game globally, and we are currently facing limitations in offline resources required for the import, export, transportation, distribution, and sales of physical discs.” GameSpot’s report described codes for WeGame purchases through JD.com in China and Steam codes for overseas purchases.
Does the PS5 physical edition come with a disc?
Yes. A later announcement said the PS5 physical edition would include the full adventure on Blu-ray, with a separate code for Digital Deluxe content. It was announced for release on December 12, 2024. PM Studios, which lists Game Science and PM Studios as publishers for the physical release, also gives that date on its Black Myth: Wukong game page. The disc edition therefore differs from the code-only physical plan announced earlier.
What is included in the PS5 physical edition?
- On the Blu-ray disc: the full game.
- By separate download code: Digital Deluxe content, not stored on the game disc. The PlayStation Store listing names the Bronzecloud Staff, Folk Opera Mask, Folk Opera Almsgiving Armor, Folk Opera Leather Bracers, Folk Opera Buskins, Wind Chimes, and selected digital soundtrack among the Deluxe items.
The distributor’s PS5 physical-edition announcement specifies the disc and separate Deluxe-content code. PlayStation’s digital listing describes the digital Standard and Digital Deluxe editions and their content.
