No official source reviewed confirms that GTA 6 requires PS5 system software 14.10. The figure 14.10.00.00 appears in an October 2026 third-party report attributed to PlayStation backend tracking, but that report says Sony and Rockstar have not confirmed it. Treat it as unverified, not as a version you must install.
What Rockstar and PlayStation confirm
Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but its platform information does not specify a minimum PS5 system software version. Rockstar also says the physical version will contain a download code inside the box; that page does not describe it as a disc release. Rockstar’s GTA VI platforms, editions, and versions information was last updated August 18, 2026.
The US PlayStation Store listing for Grand Theft Auto VI identifies the PS5 title and provides release information, but the reviewed listing does not state a minimum system software version. That omission does not establish that no requirement will apply; it means the listing does not confirm one.
PlayStation’s June 24, 2026 PlayStation Blog post about GTA VI on PS5 describes PS5 features, including DualSense controller feedback, without giving a minimum firmware version.

Where the 14.10 figure comes from
An October 2026 report by iTechGuides says version 14.10.00.00 is reportedly associated with the PS5 game listing, citing PlayStation backend tracking. The report also says Sony and Rockstar have not officially confirmed the requirement. Read the iTechGuides report.
| Evidence | What it says about a minimum version | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Rockstar platform information, updated August 18, 2026 | Does not state a minimum PS5 system software version. | Official game information; no 14.10 confirmation. |
| US PlayStation Store listing reviewed | Does not state a minimum system software version. | Official store listing; no 14.10 confirmation. |
| iTechGuides report, October 2026 | Reports 14.10.00.00 as reportedly associated with the listing, based on backend tracking. | Third-party report; explicitly unconfirmed by Sony and Rockstar. |
The available information does not establish why 14.10 might be required, whether it would be needed at launch, or whether a later system software version could be required instead. It also does not support claims about anti-jailbreak measures or a specific technical dependency.

How to check for a PS5 system software update
If you want to check your console, Sony’s normal update path is Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update, then select Update System Software. See PlayStation’s system software update instructions.
This is general update guidance, not evidence that GTA VI needs version 14.10. Don’t install a particular numbered version solely because of the unconfirmed report. Check current Rockstar or PlayStation compatibility information closer to release for any final requirement.
