Not necessarily—and LiveReacting’s published documentation does not confirm that it preserves each clip’s native quality when a playlist mixes resolutions. LiveReacting says it can encode uploaded files that do not match its recommended settings, while its plans and project settings determine the stream’s output. Those facts do not establish how it scales, crops, pads, or otherwise handles a playlist that switches between, for example, 720p and 1080p videos. If consistent quality across those transitions matters, confirm the behavior with LiveReacting before relying on it.
What “stream quality” can mean
There are three separate resolutions to keep in mind:
- Source resolution: the dimensions of each uploaded clip, such as 1280×720 or 1920×1080.
- Stream output resolution: the dimensions LiveReacting sends to YouTube, based on the stream’s selected settings and plan.
- YouTube playback renditions: the viewing options YouTube makes available after receiving the stream.
A stream set to 1080p does not add detail to a 720p source clip. Conversely, a 1080p source does not prove that LiveReacting sends that individual clip to YouTube at 1080p. The selected output and the original dimensions are different things.
LiveReacting’s help page says files outside its recommended settings may still be uploaded and encoded. That establishes general encoding capability, not whether a mixed-resolution playlist is normalized clip by clip or whether image detail stays consistent at transitions. The documentation reviewed does not state that exact behavior.

What LiveReacting documents about output and source files
Output settings depend on the plan and project
LiveReacting’s pricing page describes plan-specific output quality: some tiers list 720p, while others list 1080p, with optional 4K and 60 FPS upgrades. Check the current plan details before choosing a target, since plan availability can change. LiveReacting’s YouTube settings help also says you can set a custom video bitrate or leave it on Auto, which chooses a rate based on project settings.
LiveReacting’s format article describes landscape output at 1280×720, square at 720×720, and portrait at 720×1280. That article is dated January 13, 2020, so verify the currently available formats and controls in the studio. It says a stream’s resolution cannot be changed during a live broadcast; choose the format before starting and confirm that restriction still applies in your current workflow.

Recommended uploaded-video settings
LiveReacting recommends MP4, M4V, MOV, FLV, WEBM, OGV, 3GP, WMV, AVI, and MKV containers, with H.264 video and AAC audio. Its recommended maximum video bitrates vary by resolution and frame rate:
| Source resolution and frame rate | LiveReacting’s recommended maximum video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p (1280×720) at 30 fps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p (1280×720) at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p (1920×1080) at 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p (1920×1080) at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
| 4K (3840×2160) at 30 fps | 30 Mbps |
| 4K (3840×2160) at 60 fps | 35 Mbps |
These are LiveReacting recommendations for uploaded-video settings, not independently measured outcomes or guarantees of viewer quality. The help page says files outside the recommended settings may still be uploaded and encoded, but does not specify how it treats each clip in a mixed-resolution playlist. Check that page for per-file size limits, which vary by plan.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
For stream audio, LiveReacting recommends 128 Kbps unless you know the destination supports a higher input rate. You can set a custom stream video bitrate or leave it on Auto; the Auto rate is based on project settings.
How to prepare a playlist with different resolutions
- Inventory each clip. Note its resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, video codec, audio codec, and bitrate. Identify any portrait, square, or unusually shaped sources alongside landscape clips.
- Choose the intended output before going live. Check the current LiveReacting plan and project settings for supported output resolution and frame rate. Base the target on the strongest source material and what your audience needs; a higher output setting cannot create detail that is absent from a lower-resolution clip.
- Check files against LiveReacting’s recommendations. Review the container, H.264 video, AAC audio, and resolution/frame-rate bitrate guidance above. If a file is outside the recommendations, the service says it may still encode it, but that is not a promise about its appearance or mixed-playlist transitions.
- Confirm how aspect ratios are fitted. The reviewed documentation does not specify whether a mixed playlist is scaled, cropped, or padded to fit the output. Ask LiveReacting how it handles your actual combination of landscape, square, or portrait clips before relying on a particular framing.
- Run a controlled test. If practical, start a private or otherwise controlled YouTube stream and observe transitions between representative clips. Check YouTube’s live health indicators and view the playback at the intended resolution. This is a practical verification step, not a test result for LiveReacting.
- Ask the vendor the precise question. For example: “If my playlist contains 720p and 1080p clips, what resolution does the stream send to YouTube, how is each clip scaled or cropped, and does the service guarantee consistent transitions?” The published material reviewed does not answer that specific case.
What YouTube’s health indicators can—and cannot—tell you
YouTube’s official health diagnostics can flag problems with the incoming feed, including unsupported or suboptimal resolution, insufficient video output, and a mismatch between primary and backup streams. YouTube’s stream documentation describes the resolution and frame rate it receives and supports automatic detection through a variable setting.

These checks can help diagnose the feed reaching YouTube. They do not show how LiveReacting handled the original dimensions of each uploaded clip, nor do they prove that each clip retains its native resolution. A healthy incoming stream is useful evidence about the stream configuration, not a guarantee of identical detail across every source-video transition.
