Yes. Mega Greninja is an official Pokémon form introduced for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, not a fan-made design. The Pokémon Company published a dedicated Mega Greninja profile and announced Greninjite, its Mega Stone, as a reward tied to online Ranked Battles.
What is Mega Greninja?
Mega Greninja is a Mega Evolution of Greninja featured in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Its official profile lists it as a Water- and Dark-type Ninja Pokémon. The profile gives its height as 4 feet 11 inches and its weight as 88.2 pounds; these are fictional character-profile values.
The Pokémon Company describes the change this way: “Unleashing the energy of Mega Evolution has dramatically improved Mega Greninja’s reflexes.” The profile says Mega Greninja can reveal itself to draw an opponent into attacking, then use its improved reflexes to strike first. It also describes a giant floating water shuriken formed from a gel-like membrane secreted by its body. These are descriptions of the fictional Pokémon, not real-world observations.

How do you get Greninjite?
Greninjite is Mega Greninja’s Mega Stone. In its September 12, 2025 announcement, The Pokémon Company said the stone would be awarded for promotion in online Ranked Battles in the Z-A Battle Club. It named Greninjite as the season-one promotion reward and said that Mega Stones of this kind cannot normally be obtained through regular gameplay.
The announcement gave October 16 as the start of the season-one schedule. Because Ranked Battle seasons and reward availability can change, check the game’s current in-game news for the active reward and eligibility requirements. The announcement also says online features require a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership; availability and terms vary by region. How does Mega Evolution work?
