Yes. Roblox has a built-in free camera mode, called freecam. It detaches the camera from your character so you can move the viewpoint around an experience. In Roblox Studio, it is available during playtests; in a live experience, you must be its owner or have edit permissions. The documented keyboard toggle is Left Shift + P.
Who can use Roblox freecam?
- In Roblox Studio: You can use freecam during a playtesting session.
- In a live experience: You need to own the experience or have edit permissions. The shortcut is not a universal free-camera feature for ordinary players.
Roblox describes freecam as a way to capture scenes, spectate players in live games, and debug an experience. It hides on-screen UI while active. See Roblox’s free camera mode documentation.
How to turn freecam on or off
- Join a playtest in Roblox Studio, or enter a live experience you own or can edit.
- On a keyboard, press Left Shift + P to toggle freecam on. Press the same keys again to turn it off.
Roblox documents activation as keyboard-only. Once freecam is active, you can control it with keyboard and mouse or a gamepad.

Freecam is different from ordinary free-look
Roblox’s standard CameraToggle setting is a computer-only free-look behavior: right-click switches between Classic camera mode and looking around with the mouse. It does not detach the camera from your character or provide the fly-through view of freecam. Roblox explains the setting in its camera customization documentation.
Why you may not see every freecam option
The enhanced configuration menu and cinematic post-processing effects are not available in every experience. Roblox says these options require the experience to opt into its upgraded Input Action System player scripts by setting Workspace.PlayerScriptsUseInputActionSystem to Enabled. Supported effects include depth of field, bloom, blur, color correction, sun rays, and color grading. Details are in Roblox’s free-camera documentation.
