Shadow the Hedgehog has no brother identified in the official SEGA material reviewed. The likely source of confusion is Black Doom: SEGA says he supplied DNA that Professor Gerald Robotnik used to create Shadow, but does not describe him as Shadow’s brother.
Why Black Doom is connected to Shadow
SEGA’s official timeline says Black Doom contacted Professor Gerald and provided DNA that Gerald used in Shadow’s creation. That establishes Black Doom as a genetic contributor to Shadow’s origins; it does not establish a sibling relationship. SEGA’s series timeline is the basis for this account.
Gerald is identified as Shadow’s creator in SEGA’s Shadow profile and the official material for Shadow the Hedgehog. A DNA contribution is not the same as being called a brother, so “Black Doom is Shadow’s brother” goes beyond what these sources say.
Is Maria Robotnik Shadow’s sister?
No biological sibling relationship is established in the official sources reviewed. SEGA’s timeline identifies Maria Robotnik as Professor Gerald’s granddaughter and an important person in Shadow’s past; it also recounts her death during the G.U.N. raid. SEGA’s Maria profile provides character context, but neither source identifies her as Shadow’s biological sister.

For more context on Shadow’s history, SEGA’s game-title pages cover titles including Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow’s debut, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic X Shadow Generations. Those stories offer ways to learn more about the character, but they do not change the answer to the family question: the official material reviewed names no brother for Shadow.
