Yes. The Midwife is an optional Deepnest NPC who shares lore about Herrah and the Weavers, then tries to attack the Knight. The documented encounter offers no item or progression reward; equipping Weaversong adds dialogue, not a known unlock.
Where to find the Midwife
She is hidden behind a breakable wall at the end of a corridor reached from the southeast exit of the Distant Village. See the Midwife entry on the Hollow Knight Wiki for the location details.
What happens when you speak to her
The Midwife first acts like a helpful source of information. She tells the Knight that the village above is home to a sad creature whose story involved a costly exchange. Before explaining further, she says she is starving, opens her mask to reveal teeth, and tries to eat the Knight.
Speak with her again after this encounter and she acknowledges her appetite, saying she is content for now. She is indestructible; striking her makes her hide until you leave and re-enter the area. Her dialogue offers optional worldbuilding about Herrah, the Weavers, and Deepnest. The Deepnest area entry also reproduces her account of the brood being lost to the Infection.

What Weaversong changes
If Weaversong is equipped, the Midwife comments on the Weavers’ craft and the charm’s small spider companions, then mentions a rumbling in her belly. This is additional dialogue; no item or progression reward is documented for the interaction.
Does she give you anything?
No shop, item, upgrade, or required progression unlock is documented for the Midwife. Her function in the recorded encounter is optional lore and an unsettling attack scare, so visit if you want the extra story rather than a gameplay reward.
