No. Nintendo documents the DS’s wireless features as IEEE 802.11 and a Nintendo proprietary wireless protocol—not Bluetooth. The DS can communicate wirelessly, including for compatible local multiplayer, but that does not mean it can pair with Bluetooth devices.
What wireless technology does the Nintendo DS use?
Nintendo’s Nintendo DS specifications list IEEE 802.11 and a Nintendo proprietary protocol as its wireless communication methods. Bluetooth is not listed.

These terms describe different kinds of wireless communication. Nintendo’s network guidance says original DS games use 802.11b or 802.11b/g and require a Wi-Fi network with WEP security or no wireless security. That is Wi-Fi compatibility, not Bluetooth pairing. Nintendo’s documentation also calls communication between compatible DS systems “DS wireless communication.”
Can I connect Bluetooth headphones to a Nintendo DS?
Nintendo’s listed DS wireless features do not establish Bluetooth pairing with headphones or other Bluetooth accessories. The official specifications and support information cited here do not identify an accessory that adds Bluetooth pairing, so a generic dongle should not be assumed to work.

Is DS wireless multiplayer Bluetooth?
No. Compatible local multiplayer uses Nintendo DS wireless communication, not documented Bluetooth. Nintendo describes wireless play across DS-family systems in its DS Wireless Communication guide. A game’s ability to connect to another DS does not mean the console can pair with Bluetooth devices.
Does the answer change for DS Lite, DSi, or DSi XL?
Nintendo DS and DS Lite
Nintendo says the DS Lite’s “unique game play features and wireless connectivity remain intact” in its DS and DS Lite comparison. That confirms continuity of the documented DS wireless features; it does not indicate Bluetooth support.

Nintendo DSi and DSi XL

- Bluetooth headphones: Nintendo’s DS specifications do not document Bluetooth audio pairing.
- Bluetooth multiplayer: DS local wireless play is Nintendo DS wireless communication, not Bluetooth.
- Adapters: The official documentation cited here does not establish that a Bluetooth dongle adds pairing support.
For original DS games that use internet features, Nintendo’s network compatibility guidance describes support for 802.11b or 802.11b/g and WEP or no wireless security. Those network requirements are separate from Bluetooth.
