Yes, but only a little. Byleth’s chosen birthday sets the calendar date for a house-leader gift: gameplay guides describe it as an equippable accessory that gives +2 Charm. The date does not appear to change the main story, though that story-impact detail comes from community Q&A rather than an official Nintendo explanation.
What happens on Byleth’s birthday?
The game marks birthdays on its monthly calendar. Nintendo’s official game page describes birthdays as noteworthy events and adds, “a gift is always welcome!”

Gameplay guides report that Byleth receives a gift from the house leader: an equippable accessory that adds +2 Charm while equipped. SAMURAI GAMERS and RPG Site reported this bonus in 2019. It is a modest equipment bonus, not a change to Byleth’s underlying attributes.
Does the date affect the story or your route?
A player Q&A says the selected date affects when the gift arrives, not the main story. That is community evidence; Nintendo’s product page confirms the calendar event but does not explain story consequences. The available sources do not establish every hidden scene or route-specific exception, so the supported practical answer is that birthday choice is not presented as a story branch.

- Here, order is maintained by the Church of Seiros from its headquarters at Garreg Mach Monastery, home to the Officers Academy, where you’re invited to teach one of its three mighty houses: The Black Eagles, The Blue Lions, and The Golden Deer.
- Which house will you choose?
- As its professor, you must lead your students in class and in tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome.
Which birthday should you choose?
For earlier access to the gift
If you want the accessory sooner, choose an earlier date. The practical advantage is timing: the reported Charm bonus becomes available earlier. The sources do not establish how many birthday gifts Byleth receives over a complete playthrough, so there is no reliable basis here for a precise gift count.
For role-play
Choose a date that feels right for your version of Byleth if the calendar matters more to your role-play. The supported mechanical consequence is the timed reward; the date is not established as necessary for any route.

How does birthday tea fit in?
Tea parties are a related monastery activity, but their general rules should not be confused with birthday-specific rules. Triangle Attack’s tea party guide says tea becomes available after the “Tea for Two” quest in Chapter 4. It reports that inviting a character to tea thereafter costs one Activity Point and that teatime can increase support and may grant Charm.
The guide says tea parties can be held on birthdays, but the available information does not fully establish whether birthday teatime has different costs or rewards. Nintendo notes that monastery activities use limited Activity Points, so plan free-day activities accordingly.

Is September 20 Byleth’s canonical birthday?
A GameFAQs answer identifies September 20 as Byleth’s actual birthday, separate from the date chosen at the start, and cites Jeralt’s diary. The diary text and an official source verifying that interpretation are not established here, so treat September 20 as a community-reported lore detail rather than a confirmed rule.
