Revelations is a six-level campaign expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Its documented endgame revisits campaign levels with extra challenges and puzzles before an uber boss and Master Arenas; completing those arenas unlocks new content in Ripatorium 3.0. Bethesda’s published material does not confirm whether base-campaign upgrades transfer or whether you can freely replay individual Revelations missions on demand.
What Revelations adds
Revelations expands the campaign across six levels, adding new demons, puzzles, mysteries and the Chain Spear. In an Xbox Wire preview, Game Director and id Software Studio Co-Director Hugo Martin described the spear as introducing dash and grapple-hook movement. The preview says the Slayer initially gets the weapon after the shield is broken, and can eventually switch freely between shield and spear. Xbox Wire’s July 2026 preview describes those mechanics.

Martin summarized the movement goal this way: “We’re going to make the tanky Dark Ages Slayer fly.”
Does progress carry over from the base campaign?
Official material reviewed does not establish whether base-campaign upgrades, weapons or resources carry into Revelations. That is different from the expansion’s own progression: Bethesda’s Update 4 notes confirm that completing its Master Arenas unlocks a fully upgraded Revelations loadout for Ripatorium 3.0. That unlock is specific to Ripatorium; it does not answer whether a base-game save transfers upgrades into the DLC. Bethesda’s Update 4 notes detail the Ripatorium unlock.

What can you replay in Revelations?
The documented endgame revisit
Xbox Wire describes a structured endgame sequence that sends players back through campaign levels with additional challenges and puzzles. The sequence then leads to an uber boss and Master Arenas. This confirms a designed revisit of campaign content, not an unrestricted menu for replaying any Revelations mission whenever you want. Xbox Wire’s preview is the source for that sequence.
Master Arenas and Ripatorium 3.0
After the Master Arenas, the expansion opens new content in Ripatorium 3.0, the game’s arena mode. Bethesda lists three arenas—Hell’s Core, Osseus and Classic—along with Revelations demons, including Leaders and Champions, and the fully upgraded Revelations loadout featuring the Spear and new Suit Perks. The update also includes six id Software-curated encounter presets. Players can save and load personal presets and adjust settings for spawns, pickups, Berserk and BFC ammunition. These are replayable arena encounters, separate from replaying the story missions.

Bethesda notes a known issue in which Master Arenas may fail to spawn enemies after repeated runs; its suggested workaround is to load the previous checkpoint. See the Update 4 release notes for the issue and fix.
Is there free mission select?
The official sources reviewed do not say whether Revelations has a general free-select option for replaying individual DLC missions after completion. The confirmed campaign-level revisits are part of the described endgame sequence, so they should not be taken as proof of unrestricted mission select.

How to access Revelations
The standalone Revelations add-on requires the base game. Bethesda says owners of Premium Edition or Collector’s Bundle receive the expansion; players with the base game can buy it separately or upgrade. Edition contents and prices can vary by platform and change over time, so check the current listing for your platform. Bethesda’s Revelations product page lists the standalone add-on and base-game requirement, and Bethesda Support explains which editions include it.

Xbox Wire’s July 1, 2026 preview estimated 10–12 hours for Revelations, based on a virtual presentation and Q&A with Hugo Martin. Treat that as a preview estimate, not a guaranteed completion time; play style and time spent on challenges can affect how long it takes. Read the Xbox Wire preview.
