Use NVIDIA’s official GeForce NOW download page for Windows, macOS, Android, Linux and supported handhelds. If you do not want to install anything, launch the service at play.geforcenow.com.
GeForce NOW does have a free membership, but it is ad-supported and can involve longer queues. It also generally streams supported games you own through connected stores such as Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Ubisoft Connect and PC Game Pass; it is not an unlimited library of every PC game. Avoid unofficial APK mirrors.

Yes. NVIDIA offers a free GeForce NOW membership. “Free” does not mean unlimited or queue-free: NVIDIA says free members should expect advertising before sessions and longer access queues. Session conditions and plan features can change, so do not rely on an old session-length claim.

The free membership also does not automatically give you every game shown in the service. GeForce NOW generally connects to supported PC game stores. You normally need to own an eligible title on a connected account, although supported free-to-play games can be played without purchasing the game. Check NVIDIA’s service and supported-games information if a particular title matters to you.
Free versus paid memberships
Paid memberships primarily buy a better access and streaming experience rather than replacing game ownership. Depending on the current plan, benefits can include faster queue access, longer sessions, higher resolutions and frame rates, RTX features, and more capable cloud hardware.

Choose Free to test the service or play occasionally. Choose Performance if you want a practical upgrade in queue access and quality without Ultimate pricing. Choose Ultimate when high-refresh gaming, 4K or ultrawide output, RTX features or premium cloud hardware justify the cost—and your display, device and network can use those capabilities.
Windows: download and install GeForce NOW
- Open NVIDIA’s official download page.
- Select Download for Windows.
- Run the downloaded installer and complete setup.
- Launch GeForce NOW, then sign in or create an NVIDIA account.
- Connect supported game-store accounts.
- Choose an eligible game and select Play. Sign in to the connected store if prompted.
Windows requirements
NVIDIA lists 64-bit Windows 10 or later. 32-bit Windows is not supported. The listed hardware baseline includes a dual-core x86/x64 processor running at 2.0 GHz or faster, or supported Qualcomm Snapdragon X ARM beta hardware, 4 GB of system memory and a DirectX 11-capable GPU.

NVIDIA lists minimum network bandwidth of 15 Mbps for 720p at 60 frames per second and 25 Mbps for 1080p at 60 frames per second. Its recommendation is wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi with latency below 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center. A compatible GPU does not guarantee a smooth stream: latency, jitter, packet loss, Wi-Fi interference and congestion are often more important than local graphics power.
If the Windows installer or game fails
- Download a fresh installer from NVIDIA instead of using an old copy.
- Confirm that Windows is 64-bit, then install pending Windows updates.
- Update the graphics driver and restart GeForce NOW afterward.
- Use the app’s connection test. If the stream stutters, reduce resolution or frame rate and test Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- If a game will not launch, confirm that the title is supported and that the correct store account is connected.
Mac: download and install GeForce NOW
- Open NVIDIA’s download page.
- Select Download for Mac.
- Install and open the macOS application.
- Sign in, connect supported game stores and launch an eligible game.
NVIDIA currently lists macOS 10.15 or later and Mac models introduced in 2009 or later. Its bandwidth baseline starts at 15 Mbps for 720p/60 and 25 Mbps for 1080p/60.
The native app and browser experience are not necessarily identical. Resolution, HDR, RTX and high-frame-rate features can depend on the membership, Mac hardware, client and display. If the app is unavailable or installation is blocked, use GeForce NOW in a supported browser.
Android app and APK guidance
For Android, start with NVIDIA’s official download page and follow the Android app-store or download route it currently provides:
- Choose the Android option on NVIDIA’s page.
- Install the app through the official route it links to.
- Sign in and connect your supported game-store accounts.
- Pair a compatible Bluetooth or USB controller where possible.
- Select a supported game and start streaming.
NVIDIA lists Android 7.0 or later, at least 1 GB of available memory and OpenGL ES 2.0 or later. Network requirements begin at 15 Mbps for 720p/60, 25 Mbps for 1080p/60 and 35 Mbps for QHD/120. NVIDIA lists less than 80 ms latency to an NVIDIA data center as required, and says Ultimate membership is required for the listed 1440p/120 Android capability.

Is there an official GeForce NOW APK?
An APK is Android’s installable application package. Android support does not automatically mean NVIDIA publishes a separate public APK URL. The current NVIDIA download page confirms Android support but does not establish a separate NVIDIA-hosted APK link in its available download information.

If NVIDIA routes you to Google Play, use that route: it offers authenticity and update checks. Do not download a random “GeForce NOW APK” from an unofficial mirror, and do not install modified packages claiming to unlock paid features. If you must sideload, use only a package directly supplied by NVIDIA or explicitly linked by NVIDIA. Otherwise, there is no safe reason to bypass the official route.
Android controls and practical limits
The Android app includes an on-screen virtual gamepad, but NVIDIA does not recommend it for long-term gameplay. A physical controller is much better for conventional PC games. Pair an Xbox, DualSense, DualShock 4 or another NVIDIA-listed compatible gamepad over Bluetooth, or use USB where your phone supports it.
- Prefer 5 GHz Wi-Fi over a congested 2.4 GHz network.
- Expect battery drain and phone heat during long sessions.
- Touch controls may be acceptable for some games but are awkward for many PC titles.
- A phone screen and a TV output have different resolution, input and controller requirements.
Linux: install the beta client
NVIDIA describes Linux support as a beta experience, not as a fully equivalent stable client to Windows or macOS. Its listed native configuration is centered on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

.bininstaller from NVIDIA’s official download page. - Open a terminal in the directory containing the file.
- Make it executable:
chmod +x GeForceNOWSetup.bin- Run the installer:
./GeForceNOWSetup.binAfter installation, launch GeForce NOW, sign in and connect your supported game stores.
Linux requirements
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
- Xorg/X11 when using an NVIDIA GPU.
- Wayland when using AMD or Intel graphics.
- Dual-core x86/x64 CPU at 2.0 GHz or faster and 4 GB RAM.
- A modern GPU supporting H.264 or H.265 Vulkan video codecs.
- NVIDIA driver 580.126.07 or newer.
- For Intel or AMD GPUs using Mesa, NVIDIA recommends Mesa driver 24.2.8.
NVIDIA says to reinstall the GeForce NOW app after installing a new NVIDIA host driver. If the installer reports a permission error, repeat the chmod +x step. If the app will not start, check your Ubuntu version, display server, GPU codec support and driver version, then use the Linux installation and launch troubleshooting links on NVIDIA’s requirements page.
Other distributions may work in some circumstances, but NVIDIA’s documented native requirements are specifically centered on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. An old GPU without the required video-decoding capability is another common reason for failure.

Play in a browser without downloading
Open play.geforcenow.com, sign in and follow the on-screen setup. The web app is often the best choice for a school or work computer where software installation is blocked, a Chromebook, temporary use or a first test of the service.
NVIDIA lists these browser combinations:
- Chrome 77 or later on Windows, macOS or Chromebook.
- Edge 91 or later on Windows.
- Opera GX 117 or later on Windows or macOS.
- Safari 16.4 or later on macOS.
Browser streaming starts at 15 Mbps for 720p/60 and 25 Mbps for 1080p/60. NVIDIA lists Ultimate membership as required for the QHD/120 browser capability. The native app may provide a better-documented platform-specific experience, but do not assume that every app-only feature or premium mode is available in every browser and on every device.

Chromebook
Use the browser route rather than looking for a conventional ChromeOS desktop installer. NVIDIA lists at least 4 GB RAM and Chrome 77 or later. Bandwidth requirements are 15 Mbps for 720p/60, 25 Mbps for 1080p/60 and 35 Mbps for QHD/120; NVIDIA lists Ultimate membership for the 1600p/120 capability. Chromebook hardware varies considerably, so meeting the browser requirement cannot overcome weak Wi-Fi, an overloaded device or display limitations.
Steam Deck
From Steam Deck Desktop Mode, visit gfn.link/download, download NVIDIA’s installer script, extract it and execute it. The script installs GeForce NOW into the Steam Library so you can access it in Gaming Mode. Use the instructions and current script supplied through NVIDIA’s own download route rather than an unofficial community copy.
NVIDIA also lists support or download paths for ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and MSI Claw. GeForce NOW is pre-installed on some devices including Razer Edge and Logitech G Cloud, where applicable. Handheld integration is different from simply opening the web app: controller-first navigation, client support and available frame-rate modes depend on the device and membership. Reliable Wi-Fi is especially important when playing away from a wired connection.
iPhone and iPad
NVIDIA’s documented route is Safari on iOS or iPadOS 15.4 or later, not a conventional native iOS app download. Open the web experience, and use a supported gamepad for gameplay. NVIDIA says keyboard and mouse input is mainly limited to navigation on iPhone and iPad.

TVs and streaming devices
NVIDIA lists SHIELD TV, Android TV, Chromecast, Fire TV and selected smart-TV platforms. Compatibility is model- and operating-system-specific; not every Fire TV stick or smart TV is supported. Check NVIDIA’s download page and requirements page for the exact device.
A supported gamepad is required for TV gameplay; keyboard and mouse can be used for navigation. A streaming stick is therefore not a complete replacement for a controller.
Bandwidth, latency and blurry-stream troubleshooting
NVIDIA’s current baseline bandwidth figures are:

These are requirements, not guarantees. A speed test can show enough bandwidth while the stream still performs badly because of packet loss, jitter, interference, ISP congestion or distance from an NVIDIA data center. NVIDIA recommends wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi and latency below 80 ms.

- Move closer to the router or switch from congested 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi to 5 GHz.
- Use Ethernet where practical, including a USB-to-Ethernet adapter for compatible laptops or handhelds.
- Run GeForce NOW’s connection test and check latency and packet loss, not only download speed.
- Lower the stream resolution or frame rate if the image is blurry or stutters.
- If queueing is the problem rather than network quality, remember that longer queues are expected to be more likely on the free tier.
Common questions and mistakes
“I downloaded the app, but my game is missing.”
GeForce NOW does not automatically include every PC game. Check NVIDIA’s supported-games catalog and connect the store account that owns the title.
“The game says I need to buy it.”
You may own the game on a different store, or that title may not support the store integration you selected. Verify both the store and the supported version.
“Can I use a keyboard and mouse on Android or TV?”
Input support varies by device and game. Android and TV play is generally better with a supported controller. On iPhone and iPad, NVIDIA says keyboard and mouse are mainly for navigation.
“Does a better local GPU fix poor streaming?”
Not necessarily. The game runs in NVIDIA’s cloud. Your device mainly needs a compatible client, display and video-decoding capability; network latency and stability usually determine stream quality.
“Is GeForce NOW better than buying a gaming PC?”
It depends on the trade-off. GeForce NOW avoids a large local hardware purchase and can work well on modest computers, phones and handhelds, but it requires a reliable connection, supported games and tolerance for cloud-service plan limits. A local PC provides offline access and avoids streaming latency, while GeForce NOW can be the more practical option when hardware cost or portability matters.
