Download Roblox from Roblox.com or your device’s official app store—not from a mirror, APK site, “free Robux” page, or modified-client download. Windows and Mac users install Roblox Player by opening an experience and selecting the green Play button; phones, tablets, Chromebooks, Xbox, and PlayStation use their official store listings.
The safest way to download Roblox
Download Roblox only from Roblox.com or your device’s official app store. On a Windows PC or Mac, sign in at Roblox.com, open any experience, and select the green Play button. Roblox will prompt you to install the Roblox Player, then use it to launch the experience.
On phones, tablets, consoles, and supported Chromebooks, install the official Roblox app from the Apple App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store, Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, or the Chromebook’s Google Play Store. Check that the developer is Roblox Corporation.
Do not download “free Robux” installers, modified Roblox clients, executors, cracked copies, or APK files from unofficial websites. They can contain malware, steal account credentials, or result in account action.

Download Roblox on Windows
Roblox officially supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge are supported browsers for the Roblox website.
- Open Roblox.com in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Sign in, or create a Roblox account.
- Open the experience you want to play.
- Select the green Play button.
- When prompted, allow the Roblox installer to download and run.
- If Windows or your browser asks which application should open the Roblox link, select Roblox. You can enable the option to remember that choice.
- Return to the experience and select Play again if necessary.
Roblox is also available through the Microsoft Store. The website-installed desktop player and the Microsoft Store Roblox app are separate distribution routes; you do not need to install both. If one route does not work on your PC, try the other official route rather than downloading an installer from a mirror.
Windows requirements
- Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Graphics: DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support.
- Memory: At least 1 GB of RAM is listed in Roblox’s hardware guidance.
- Storage: Approximately 300 MB of available space, although updates and cached files can require more.
- Internet: Roblox recommends roughly 4–8 Mbps for a single-use household connection.
A relatively recent processor is recommended. Roblox notes that older AMD processors may cause problems, so meeting the basic storage or memory figures does not guarantee that every experience will run well.
Download Roblox on Mac
Roblox supports macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later for the Roblox application. Chrome, Firefox, and Safari are supported for the Roblox website.
- Open Roblox.com in Safari, Chrome, or Firefox.
- Sign in or create an account.
- Open an experience and select Play.
- Allow the Roblox application installer to run.
- Follow the on-screen prompts, then select Play again to launch the experience.
Firefox may ask you to choose an application for Roblox links. Select Roblox.app and, if offered, choose the option to remember the selection. If the installation is incomplete or corrupted, remove Roblox and reinstall it through Roblox.com rather than using a third-party download page.
Download Roblox on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Apple App Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Confirm that the developer is Roblox Corporation.
- Install the official app and open it.
- Sign in or create an account.
The official listing describes Roblox as a free app with in-app purchases and requires a network connection. The minimum iOS or iPadOS version can change as the app is updated. Use the current App Store listing as the compatibility check rather than relying on an old version number.
Download Roblox on Android
- Open Google Play on your Android phone or tablet.
- Search for Roblox.
- Check that Roblox Corporation is listed as the developer.
- Tap Install, then open the app and sign in.
Android compatibility varies by device and can change with app updates. Google Play will provide the current compatibility result for your device. Avoid APK mirrors: even when an APK has the right name, it may be modified, outdated, or unsafe.
Download Roblox on a Chromebook
Roblox Support lists ChromeOS version 53 or later and requires Google Play to be enabled. Support also depends on whether your particular Chromebook can run Android apps.

- Open Chromebook Settings.
- Find the option to enable Google Play, if your Chromebook provides it.
- Open Google Play and search for Roblox.
- Install the app published by Roblox Corporation.
- Open Roblox and sign in.
If Google Play is unavailable or the Roblox listing says the device is incompatible, the Chromebook may not support the required Android app environment. Do not attempt to bypass that restriction with an unofficial extension or APK.
Download Roblox on Xbox
Roblox is available through the official Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
- Open the Microsoft Store on your Xbox.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select the official listing from Roblox Corporation.
- Choose Get or Install.
- Launch Roblox and sign in.
The Xbox listing describes Roblox as free with optional in-app purchases. It also lists online multiplayer, cross-platform multiplayer, cross-platform co-op, cloud saves, and Xbox achievements.
Download Roblox on PlayStation
Roblox is available as a free download for PS4 and PS5 through the official PlayStation Store, with optional in-game purchases and online play.
- Open the PlayStation Store on your PS4 or PS5.
- Search for Roblox.
- Choose the official Roblox listing.
- Select Download or Add to Library, depending on the store prompt.
- Open Roblox after installation and sign in.
The PlayStation listing identifies a native PS5 version and says it is optimized for PS5. It reports up to 30% faster load times compared with the prior experience, but actual results depend on the console, network, and individual experience.
Roblox Player versus Roblox Studio
Download Roblox Player to play. Download Roblox Studio to create or edit experiences. They are separate applications.
Roblox Studio is a free creation tool for Windows and Mac. Roblox Creator Hub identifies the Windows installer as RobloxStudio.exe and the Mac installer as RobloxStudio.dmg. Its listed minimum operating systems are Windows 10 and macOS 10.14; recommended versions are Windows 11 and macOS 14 or later. Studio lists 3 GB of minimum memory and 8 GB as recommended.
A casual player does not need Roblox Studio. Installing Studio will not replace Roblox Player or make games run faster.

What to do if Roblox will not install
The Play button does nothing
- Confirm that you are using a supported browser on Windows or Mac.
- Allow the Roblox installer or application prompt when the browser asks.
- If asked which app should open a Roblox link, select Roblox or Roblox.app.
- Close Roblox and the browser, reopen the browser, and try the Play button again.
- Reinstall Roblox from Roblox.com if the installation appears damaged.
The app is unavailable in an app store
Check the device’s operating-system version, region, account restrictions, and store compatibility message. Mobile, Chromebook, VR, and console availability can vary by device generation and region. Do not assume that an app-store result for one device applies to another.
Roblox installs but runs poorly
Download problems and performance problems are different. Roblox performance can be affected by hardware, rendering load, memory use, network ping, client conditions, and the design of the individual experience. A demanding experience may lag even when Roblox itself installed correctly.
First identify whether the problem is visual stuttering, slow loading, disconnection, or high network latency. Try a less demanding experience, close other applications, use a stable connection, and check whether the issue affects only one experience. Avoid utilities that promise guaranteed Roblox FPS improvements. General PC-maintenance software may be optional for broader Windows problems, but it is not required to download Roblox and is not an official Roblox fix.
Roblox safety and parental controls
Roblox provides controls for content maturity, allowed and blocked experiences, communication, private servers, connections, and spending. A parent generally needs a linked Roblox account to manage a child’s account.

- Review the child account’s content-maturity settings.
- Limit or disable chat, messages, follows, and private-server invitations where appropriate.
- Use Roblox’s block and report tools when an interaction violates the rules.
- Set a monthly spending limit and enable spending notifications.
- Remember that gift-card redemption is not controlled by the monthly spending limit.
Filtered chat is the default for eligible communication, but parental controls require configuration and are not a guarantee that every interaction is risk-free. Roblox’s privacy, age-assurance, communication, and parental-control rules can change, so consult the current Roblox Support documentation when setting up a child’s account.

Once Roblox is installed, a Roblox gift card can be one legitimate way to add Robux or account value. Check the card type and redemption terms before buying. Roblox says gift cards are sold through authorized retailers and online stores in supported regions.
Most gift-card redemptions take place in a web browser at Roblox.com/redeem. Standard Roblox mobile apps and consoles generally do not provide the normal redemption flow, although Roblox documents an exception for Samsung Galaxy devices.
Pay attention to the distinction between Robux and Roblox Credit. Roblox’s retailer information says Amazon digital gift cards grant Robux but cannot be used toward a Premium subscription. Gift cards should be purchased from authorized retailers or distributors; cards from unauthorized sellers, auction sites, or similar sources may not be honored. U.S. terms also state that cards are generally nonrefundable, and redemption requires an account and internet access.

Platforms Roblox does not universally support
Roblox’s official materials cover PC, Mac, mobile devices, Xbox, PlayStation, and selected VR hardware such as Meta Quest. Availability can vary by region, headset model, device generation, and storefront. Do not assume that every Android device, VR headset, or regional store supports Roblox.
Linux is not officially supported. A Linux compatibility workaround is therefore not an official download route, and this guide does not recommend downloading a modified client to try to run Roblox.
