Where to download Watch_Dogs 2 on Windows
Choose one of these official storefronts:
- Ubisoft Connect/Ubisoft Store: Buy the Windows edition through Ubisoft. Ubisoft states that the purchased content is automatically added to your Ubisoft Connect for PC library for download.
- Steam: Purchase the Windows listing in Steam, then link or sign in to a Ubisoft account when Ubisoft Connect opens.
- Epic Games Store: Purchase the Windows listing in Epic, then complete Ubisoft-account activation through Ubisoft Connect.
Prices, discounts, editions, regional availability, and refund rules change. Check the store page for your country before paying.

What you need before installing
Ubisoft account and launcher
A valid Ubisoft account and the Ubisoft Connect PC launcher are required. Steam or Epic supplies the storefront license, but Ubisoft Connect handles the Ubisoft account activation and library access.
Internet access
High-speed internet is required to activate the game after installation, authenticate after re-activation, use online features, and unlock exclusive content. Plan on being online for the first launch and whenever the license must be revalidated.

Windows version
Ubisoft’s current product page lists Windows 10 and Windows 11. The Steam client requirement is Windows 10 or later. Ubisoft’s original 2016 specification article also listed 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1, but those operating systems are no longer the current storefront target.

How to install each Windows version
Ubisoft Connect or Ubisoft Store
- Install Ubisoft Connect for PC from Ubisoft’s official service and sign in or create a Ubisoft account.
- Buy or redeem the Windows edition in the Ubisoft Store.
- Open the Ubisoft Connect library and select Watch_Dogs 2.
- Choose Download or Install, select an installation drive with enough free space, and let the launcher complete the files and updates.
- Start the game from Ubisoft Connect while online so activation can finish.
Steam
- Install Steam and sign in to the account that owns the game.
- Buy or redeem the Windows listing and select Install in your Steam library.
- When prompted, install or open Ubisoft Connect and sign in to the Ubisoft account you want linked to the purchase.
- Complete the account-activation prompt, then launch from Steam or Ubisoft Connect.
Epic Games Store
- Install the Epic Games launcher and sign in to the account that owns the game.
- Open your Epic library, select Watch_Dogs 2, and choose Install.
- When Ubisoft Connect opens, sign in to the correct Ubisoft account and approve the account link.
- Allow both launchers to finish installation and updates before starting the game.
Which storefront should you choose?

Compare the final regional price, edition contents, discount conditions, storage text, and refund policy on the checkout page. A cheaper base-game offer is not necessarily the better choice if your existing library or planned DLC is elsewhere.
Why storage requirements differ
Storefront pages do not agree: Steam lists 27 GB of available space, while Ubisoft’s original specification article and the Epic listing show 50 GB. Treat the requirement on the storefront you are using as the applicable published figure, and keep extra space available for unpacking, patches, and temporary installer files. If the launcher reports insufficient space, move the installation to a drive with more capacity rather than relying on the smaller figure shown by another store.

Common download and activation problems
The game asks for Ubisoft Connect
This is expected for Steam and Epic purchases. Install or update Ubisoft Connect, then sign in to the Ubisoft account linked to the purchase.
The game is missing from the Ubisoft library
Check that you are signed in to the same Ubisoft account used during activation. If you bought through Steam or Epic, start the game from that account and complete the linking prompt instead of creating a second Ubisoft account.

Activation fails offline
Reconnect to the internet and retry. High-speed internet is required for activation and later re-authentication; an offline installation cannot complete the documented activation path.
The installer says there is not enough disk space
Use the larger 50 GB figure as a safe planning target, verify the selected install drive, and leave additional headroom for updates.
