Kotaku’s report describes the carryover; a 2014 romance reference illustrates the restrictions, including those affecting Solas and Sera.
In practical terms, the supported carryover is a relationship selection—not an assurance that every former partner receives a particular scene, amount of screen time, or story outcome.
Does the game explain what your former partner is doing?
The reporting that confirms the romance choice does not document the specific update for each partner: it does not establish which scenes, dialogue, or timing provide news about them. So the precise answer to “what is my Inquisition romance up to?” depends on details not established by those sources. It would be misleading to promise a particular reunion, conversation, or status update based on the carryover choice alone.
