In DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, press up to open the Transformation Panel, then choose an available form with the face button shown on screen. To fuse, you need two compatible characters on your team: open the Transformation Panel, press up plus L1 or R1 to switch to the Fusion Panel, and select the offered fusion. Both actions use Skill Count.
How to transform
- Build Skill Count during the fight. Its blue bar fills to add charges; Skill Count is separate from the Ki Gauge.
- Press up to open the Transformation Panel.
- Choose an available form using the face button displayed on the panel. The official guide lists the face-button inputs as square/X, triangle/Y, cross/A, or circle/B.
Transformation uses Skill Count and improves the character’s statistics. The publisher’s guide does not give numerical before-and-after values, so the size of the increase depends on the character and form and should not be treated as a fixed percentage.

How to fuse
- Make sure your team includes two characters eligible to fuse. The panel offers a fusion only when compatible partners are on the team.
- Press up to open the Transformation Panel, then press up plus L1 or R1 to switch to the Fusion Panel.
- Select the fusion shown using its displayed face button.
Fusion is a one-way team choice during the battle: both participants disappear from the team-member screen and are replaced by the fused character. Bandai Namco’s guide says they cannot return to normal. Its cited instructions do not provide a complete compatibility roster, so rely on the fusions the in-game panel actually offers rather than assuming any two characters can fuse.
Transform or fuse: what to consider
| Choice | What it does | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Transform | Changes one character into an available form and improves that character’s statistics. | Whether the form appears for that character and whether you want to spend Skill Count. |
| Fuse | Combines two eligible teammates into one fused character. | Whether the panel offers the fusion, the Skill Count cost, and whether you are willing to lose access to both original characters for the rest of the battle. |
Controls and Skill Count notes
Bandai Namco describes Standard controls as the recommended option and Classic as similar to the earlier Budokai Tenkaichi controls. The selected control type also affects QTE inputs. The publisher’s transformation and fusion guide gives the panel sequence above; if your configured controls or on-screen prompts differ, follow the control display in your game rather than assuming a different button mapping.

Skill Count powers transformations, fusion, and certain skills. It accrues as its blue bar fills, with each completed fill adding one charge. It is not the same resource as the Ki Gauge. The game also has character stats including Special Attack, HP, Combo, Ki, and Attack; customization and the character’s current state, including form or fusion, can influence the stats tree. The guide does not specify numerical gains for an individual transformation or fusion.
