A March 2024 guide reports that your character progress, main Pawn, gold, Rift Crystals, most items and explored map areas carry over, while quests and Portcrystal placements reset. Read the confirmation prompt carefully before committing: the guide warns that you cannot resume the completed run afterward, but Capcom’s later save-slot updates leave the current save behavior unclear.
How to start NG+ in Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Complete the game. Zoey Handley’s March 27, 2024 Destructoid guide says NG+ becomes available after completing the game and does not require the “true” ending.
- Select the restart option. At the completion prompt, choose the option to begin again with your current level and equipment.
- Read the confirmation prompt before accepting. The Destructoid guide warns that selecting NG+ prevents you from resuming the completed run. Because that guide predates Capcom’s 2026 save-system updates, treat the live game’s wording as authoritative for your version.
- Continue through the opening. The guide says the new run begins at the prisoner camp. After the opening griffin ride, report to an inn to retrieve carried gear.

What carries over into NG+?
The following carry-over details come from Destructoid’s March 2024 guide, not an official Capcom checklist. Its wording is broad in places, so “most collected items” should not be read as a guarantee that every item or map detail persists.

What is known about current updates and NG+?
Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen on June 10, 2026, describing it as a paid expansion with a new story and scheduling its release for October 9, 2026. Capcom listed Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC for the package. The announcement establishes product and platform context; it does not say that the expansion changes NG+ rules. See Capcom’s announcement feed.

Capcom’s official Steam announcements also describe 2026 base-game updates, including a reusable Eternal Ferrystone and later save-slot and quality-of-life adjustments. Those notices do not clarify whether NG+ carry-over or the ability to resume a completed run changed.
