Bakbattahl is in Battahl, south of Checkpoint Rest Town. The usual story route is to reach the Nation of the Lambent Flame quest, pass through the checkpoint gate, then follow the main road south. Later, an oxcart route and an activated Portcrystal make travel to and from the city more convenient.
Where is Bakbattahl?
Bakbattahl is a Beastren settlement in the Battahl region, south of Checkpoint Rest Town. Game8’s location guide places a permanent Portcrystal near the Mercantile Ward, close to the city entrance; interact with it once to activate it as a fast-travel destination. Game8’s Bakbattahl location guide

How do I get to Bakbattahl?
Follow the story route through Checkpoint Rest Town
- Progress the main story until you receive Nation of the Lambent Flame.
- Reach Checkpoint Rest Town and pass through its gate. The checkpoint walkthrough associates the Entry Permit with completing Feast of Deception. Game8’s Checkpoint Rest Town gate guide
- Continue south along the main road to Bakbattahl.
The same walkthrough advises characters who are not Beastren to wear a Beastren Mask for safe passage; it says Beastren characters do not need to buy one. Treat this as third-party route guidance and check your quest state and what the game requires in your playthrough. The cited guides do not establish a reliable alternative route before obtaining the permit.
Can I take an oxcart to Bakbattahl?
Game8’s location guide says the Bakbattahl-bound oxcart route becomes available after completing the side quest Mercy Among Thieves. It describes the first journey as a trip on foot, so do not assume the oxcart is available before that quest is completed. Game8’s Bakbattahl location guide

How do I make the return trip easier?
Once you reach the city, interact with the Portcrystal near the Mercantile Ward by the entrance. Activating it adds Bakbattahl as a fast-travel destination; the location guide identifies it as a permanent Portcrystal.

- Flamebearer Palace: A political center and quest hub.
- Brokkr’s Smithy: A notable smithy and a useful point of orientation.
