Choose a vehicle by the trip you need: ground vehicles offer local travel and specialized utility, while ornithopters can cross the Overland Map. The Sandbike is the earliest listed option at Copper tier; the roster extends to Plastanium-tier Sandcrawlers and Carrier Ornithopters. Ground travel over open sand can attract sandworms, and vehicles left outside a land claim decay over time. These tier and module details come from the Dune: Awakening Community Wiki, checked October 8, 2026; game mechanics may change with patches.
Which Dune: Awakening vehicles are available?
The community-wiki roster lists four ground vehicles and three aerial vehicles. Its tiers and capacities are game-reference values, not independently measured performance figures.

How do ground and aerial vehicles differ?
Ground vehicles cannot use Overland travel; all three listed ornithopters can. Ground vehicles are therefore for local movement and their particular utility, rather than replacing aerial transport between map areas. Driving a ground vehicle across open sand attracts sandworms, according to the community wiki. Consult its vehicle overview for the general travel and exposure guidance, and consider route and risk before taking a ground vehicle into exposed sand.

The wiki describes two ornithopter modes: Dragonfly mode uses powered hovering and maneuvering, while Vulture mode powers down the engine and glides with the wings locked horizontally. It characterizes gliding as potentially faster than powered flight, especially with thrusters, but gives no measured speed comparison. Treat these as qualitative mode descriptions, not a guarantee of travel time.
Which vehicle should you build for your needs?
Sandbike: early, small-scale utility
The Copper-tier Sandbike is the roster’s earliest listed vehicle. The community wiki describes it as a speedy ground vehicle for exploring behind the Shield Wall. Optional modules include a Backseat for a passenger who can use ranged weapons and tools, a Booster that increases speed while risking engine heat, an Inventory module for storage, and a Scanner for environmental scans while driving. It does not provide Overland travel. See the Sandbike entry for its listed modules.

Buggy: group transport, cargo, or harvesting
The Steel-tier Buggy carries three to four crew and can be configured for cargo, mining, or combat. Its standard rear module has two passenger seats and a utility slot that can take Storage or a Booster. The Utility Rear trades one passenger seat for another turret utility slot, which can take a Cutteray or weapon. A Cutteray mines deposits more efficiently than handheld tools and requires a Storage module; mined resources can be deposited there automatically. The choice is a trade-off between passenger space and another utility/turret configuration, not an across-the-board upgrade. The Buggy entry lists these module options.
Scout Ornithopter: solo aerial access and scanning
The Aluminum-tier Scout Ornithopter has one crew position and supports Overland travel. The wiki lists scouting, scanning, racing, and optional combat as its uses; modules include scanning equipment, storage, a thruster with engine-heat risk, and rocket launchers. It favors solo aerial route access over the Buggy’s group capacity and harvesting setup. See the Scout Ornithopter entry for its listed configuration options.

The overview establishes the Treadwheel as an Aluminum-tier One-Man Groundcar for one to two crew, the Plastanium-tier Sandcrawler for two, the Duraluminum-tier Assault Ornithopter for four, and the Plastanium-tier Carrier Ornithopter for six. It also lists the Treadwheel as Vehicle Backup eligible. The overview does not establish enough module detail to make further role or performance comparisons for these vehicles.
How do assembly, damage, and storage work?
Assembling a vehicle
Vehicle assembly requires the in-game Welding Torch and starts with the chassis. The community wiki says assembly generally uses one of each module type unless a recipe specifies otherwise. Modules of different tiers can generally be combined, but all pieces of a multipart assembly—such as treads or wings—must be the same tier. Check current in-game requirements because recipes and availability may change. The vehicle overview is the cited source for these assembly rules.

Protecting and storing a vehicle
Sandstorms, sandworms, and hostile forces can damage vehicles. The wiki says vehicles parked outside a player’s land claim decay over time even when sheltered, and recommends parking inside a base for long-term storage.
Vehicle Backup is listed for the Sandbike, Treadwheel, and Scout Ornithopter only. To store a vehicle, its inventory must be empty; only one vehicle may be stored across all of a player’s Vehicle Backup Terminals (VBTs) at a time. Check the current in-game interface before relying on backup rules, which may be patch-sensitive. These damage and storage details are from the community-wiki overview.

- This expansion adds two new houses to Dune: The Ecaz and the Moritani
- It also adds in new game mechanics: Homeworlds allow you to conduct raids on the homeworlds of other factions and destroy their spice stockpiles.
- Nexus Cards provide players with incentives and special effects for not joining and alliace. Discovery Tokens add new elements to the game on sections of the board that are often bypassed and don't see much action.

Can you customize vehicle appearance?
The wiki lists appearance variants and color swatches, including named Sandbike, Buggy, and ornithopter variants. It does not establish their prices, acquisition locations, regional availability, or whether any particular cosmetic is currently obtainable. Confirm those details in-game rather than assuming a listed variant is presently available. See the vehicle customization page.
What vehicle is best to build next?
There is no single best choice for every stage or job. Use the listed progression gates and intended use to narrow it down: start with the Copper-tier Sandbike for local personal mobility; consider the Steel-tier Buggy when crew transport, cargo, or harvesting matters; and look to the Aluminum-tier Scout Ornithopter when Overland access and solo aerial scouting are the priority. For the remaining roster, the overview confirms tier and crew capacity but not enough module detail for a more specific recommendation.
All roster and module information above reflects the Dune: Awakening Community Wiki checked October 8, 2026, rather than independent in-game testing. Because the game is patch-sensitive, confirm tier gates, module availability, and storage rules against current in-game text after major updates.
