To earn the Megaentomology Badge in PEAK, let the Antlion hit you in the Mesa biome, survive, then get at least 48 meters away while still alive. The simplest route is to enter a sand funnel, take one hit, and jump or climb up its side; a teammate can help pull you out.
How to earn the badge
- Reach Mesa. Look for a funnel-shaped depression in the sand. The Antlion lies beneath the trap; the center is dangerous, and fake Explorer’s Luggage can act as bait. The PEAK Wiki’s Antlion page describes the encounter.
- Trigger the attack. Approach the funnel until the Antlion activates and pulls players inward. Its attack damages and knocks back the nearest player.
- Take a hit, then escape. You need to be struck, but do not remain in the center until you are knocked unconscious or killed. Jump away and climb up the bowl’s slope. In co-op, a teammate can help pull you free.
- Keep moving away. Get at least 48 meters from the Antlion without dying. The community wiki lists this as the escape distance for the badge.
The wiki transcribes the badge condition as “Survive an Antlion attack.” PC Gamer’s August 12, 2025 guide also describes escaping safely after being hit, with the badge appearing at the end of the run. Read PC Gamer’s guide.
Ways to make the escape easier
Getting out can consume much of your stamina, so use the simplest option your expedition permits. A teammate ready to pull you free is a straightforward co-op plan; solo, jump and climb along the bowl rather than lingering in the center.
- Fortified Milk or Scout’s Tenacity: The wiki recommends these as protection against damage.
- Anti-Rope Cannon: Aim it at the mound’s center; after the bite, climb the rope and jump out.
- Anti-Zooka: The wiki suggests it can restore stamina and push you outward.
- Jetpack: Use it after the Antlion knocks you upward to help get clear.
These are optional in-game aids, not requirements. The sources describe possible tactics but do not provide controlled comparisons or success rates, so no one method is established as definitively fastest or safest.

Antlion distances and badge availability
The community-maintained PEAK Wiki reports that the Antlion activates when a player comes within 19.2 meters, attacks the nearest player within 8 meters, and retreats when no players are within 25.6 meters. These are reported game-mechanic values, not independently measured statistics; mechanics may change with patches. The badge’s listed escape threshold is 48 meters. See the wiki’s Badges page.
The same badge overview says badges generally can be earned at any difficulty, including Tenderfoot, with two named exceptions, and cannot be earned on Custom Expeditions. This is a broad community-wiki rule rather than patch-specific developer confirmation for Megaentomology. If the badge does not register, check the in-game Accolades screen and current patch notes before concluding there is a bug.
