Edifier’s gaming-focused HECATE line launched the G2500BAR in China in November 2024: a compact USB-powered desktop soundbar with virtual 7.1 processing, Bluetooth 5.4, RGB lighting and a detachable chat microphone. It was announced at 299 yuan, but Edifier’s current Chinese listing shows 349 yuan. The “7.1” label describes a processed surround effect, not seven discrete speakers and a subwoofer.
China launch, with a higher current listed price
The G2500BAR went on sale through JD.com on November 15, 2024, at a reported introductory price of 299 yuan. Edifier’s current Chinese product page lists it at 349 yuan. The two prices refer to different points in time; 299 yuan should not be treated as the current official price.
Availability is the main caveat for readers outside China. The product remains listed on Edifier’s Chinese site, but it does not appear in the company’s current U.S. gaming-speaker collection. No U.S. price or official U.S. distribution is confirmed by those listings. Edifier’s Chinese page states a one-year warranty in China; that should not be assumed to apply in other regions.

What the G2500BAR offers
The G2500BAR is a single desktop bar built around two 53 mm full-range drivers and dual bass-reflex ports. Its five-degree upward tilt is intended to aim sound toward a seated listener, while anti-slip feet and a compact enclosure target desks with limited space. Launch coverage describes it as around 30% shorter than traditional soundbars; that is a reported comparison, not an independently measured finding.

- Controls: Physical controls handle functions including volume, lighting and muting.
- Power: The published input rating is 5 V / 1 A, so this is a modest-power desktop speaker rather than a high-output room system.
Those microphone and processing features are manufacturer claims. No independent microphone, latency or listening tests were identified in the available coverage, so the presence of noise reduction should not be read as evidence of broadcast-quality voice capture.
What “7.1 surround” means here
The G2500BAR is not a physical 7.1 setup. It has two drivers in one bar, not seven full-range channels plus a subwoofer. Edifier and launch reports describe a 7.1 effect generated through DSP or software processing: the aim is to make stereo playback feel wider and give some games more directional cues.

How noticeable that effect is can depend on the game, output settings, connection and listening position. A compact bar cannot create the same physical separation as speakers placed around a room, and virtual processing will not necessarily make every game easier to read. If the sound seems hollow or echoey, avoid stacking multiple spatial-processing effects; try the speaker’s standard stereo output or another sound mode.

The 90 Hz lower limit is a useful reality check: the published range does not extend into deep sub-bass, so buyers seeking weighty cinematic low end should look at a system with a dedicated subwoofer. The rated 2.5 W per channel likewise suggests a speaker intended for near-field desktop listening, not filling a large room.

For PC gaming, USB is the sensible starting point: it provides a wired audio path and is the route to prioritize if you want to use Edifier’s Windows controls. Bluetooth is convenient for music from a phone or tablet, but it is not the preferred choice for competitive play where consistent latency matters. The product’s Bluetooth connection should not be assumed to expose every PC software feature.

Edifier’s current support page provides a manual and Windows software for Windows 10 and later, and says the product does not support a mobile app. That current official documentation conflicts with launch coverage that mentioned Edifier Connect mobile app customization; mobile-app support is therefore not confirmed and should not be expected on the strength of older reports.

Who is it for?
The G2500BAR’s appeal is its combination of speaker, lighting and chat microphone in one small bar. It makes the most sense for a compact desk, casual gaming, and users who want to switch between wired PC audio and Bluetooth playback without adding several separate devices.
It is a less convincing fit for competitive players who depend on dependable positional cues, streamers who need carefully controlled voice capture, or anyone expecting deep bass or genuine room-filling 7.1 sound. Those priorities call for headphones or a larger, independently tested speaker system.
For U.S. buyers, the practical issue is that official local availability and warranty are not established by Edifier’s current U.S. lineup. The HECATE G1500 BAR is a more directly listed U.S. alternative in a similar compact-bar category, though it is a different product with different specifications. If considering an imported G2500BAR, verify the seller, included power adapter, shipping and import costs, return policy, software region and warranty before ordering.
