These bearings unlock regular Smithing Stones [1] through [8], enough to upgrade standard armaments to +24. They do not unlock Smithing Stone [9].

Somber Smithing Stone [1] through [9] upgrade special armaments to +9. The final upgrade to +10 requires a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, which has no corresponding miner Bell Bearing.
How to offer a Bell Bearing
- Travel to Roundtable Hold and speak with the Twin Maiden Husks.
- Choose the option to offer a Bell Bearing and select the relevant miner bearing.
- Open the Husks’ shop and buy the newly unlocked Smithing Stones or Somber Smithing Stones with runes.
The listed stones are available without a stock limit once their bearing has been offered. Smithing-Stone Miner’s and Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing shop unlocks carry over into New Game Plus, a change noted in Bandai Namco’s Patch 1.05 notes.
What the miner Bell Bearings do not unlock
Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [4] stops at Smithing Stone [8], and Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5] unlocks Somber Smithing Stone [9]. Neither family provides unlimited Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones or Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, which are limited campaign resources. The locations above cover the base-game miner bearings, not every Bell Bearing family or the separate Realm of Shadow bearings.

How many miner Bell Bearings are there for weapon-upgrade stones?
There are nine in the base game: four Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearings and five Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearings.
Which bearing unlocks Somber Smithing Stone [9]?
Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5], found near the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace in Crumbling Farum Azula, unlocks unlimited Somber Smithing Stone [9] purchases.
Can you buy Smithing Stone [9] with a Bell Bearing?
No. The regular miner bearings unlock Smithing Stone [1] through [8]. Smithing Stone [9] and Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones do not have corresponding miner Bell Bearings.
