Spoilers: This walkthrough covers the Dung Eater quest’s outcomes and the Blessing of Despair ending. To complete it, show the Dung Eater one Seedbed Curse at Roundtable Hold, free his body in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, defeat his invasion at Leyndell’s Outer Moat, then give his body four more curses. The resulting Mending Rune of the Fell Curse unlocks the ending choice after the final boss.
How to start the Dung Eater quest
After progressing far enough to reach Altus Plateau or acquire a Great Rune, check the newly available room beyond the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold. The exact trigger can vary with progression. Speak to the Dung Eater and exhaust his dialogue.
Bring him one Seedbed Curse. He will give you the Sewer-Gaol Key and reveal that his physical body is imprisoned beneath Leyndell. One curse opens the route; five total are required for the quest reward.
Free the Dung Eater’s body in the sewers
- Collect a Seedbed Curse. The East Capital Rampart route is a straightforward option: continue through the rampart area, take the elevator, climb the ladder, and find the curse on a seated corpse.
- Reach the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. Enter the sewers beneath Leyndell and find the Dung Eater’s cell.
- Use the Sewer-Gaol Key. Open the cell and tell him to leave. Do not attack or kill him if you want to continue toward his ending.
If you want to preserve Blackguard Big Boggart’s possible Seedbed Curse, complete the relevant Boggart interactions before freeing the Dung Eater. The Dung Eater’s release leads to Boggart’s death and can close that optional curse route.

Defeat the Outer Moat invasion
Return to Roundtable Hold and read the message left by the Dung Eater. Go to Leyndell’s Outer Moat and defeat the invading spirit. This is a separate encounter: it advances the quest but does not kill the body in the sewer cell. Return to Roundtable Hold and speak to the Dung Eater again. Speaking with Boggart and reloading the area can help trigger the invasion.
Collect five Seedbed Curses
Return to the cell in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. The Dung Eater will be back in the chair. Give him four more Seedbed Curses, for five total, to receive the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse. Reload the area afterward to collect the Omen armor set.

Leyndell: East Capital Rampart

Leyndell: Fortified Manor
Search the room in the Fortified Manor that mirrors the Dung Eater’s usual room at Roundtable Hold. The curse is on the corpse there.
Volcano Manor
In the dungeon area near the route to Rykard, use a Stonesword Key at the locked fog gate. Descend among the hanging cages to the lower room, where the curse can be found.

Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: Prayer Room route one
From the Prayer Room, progress along the ramparts and drop toward the room with the seated corpse near the Cleanrot Knights route.
Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: Prayer Room route two
From the Prayer Room, follow the route across the supports and balcony to another seated corpse. This platforming route is easy to miss, so consult a map or video if you cannot locate the drop.
Leyndell Outer Moat: Blackguard Big Boggart (conditional)
Boggart can provide an additional curse if his related sequence remains available. Complete his interactions early; later Dung Eater progression can close this route. You do not need this curse if you collect the five other locations.

After defeating the final boss, use the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse on Marika’s remains to select the Blessing of Despair ending. The rune is the reward for completing the curse route; the Outer Moat invasion alone does not provide it.

- Killing the Dung Eater in his cell: ends the quest route. This alternative yields the Omen set and Sword of Milos, rather than the rune needed for the ending.
- Administering Seluvis’s Potion: turns him into a puppet and prevents the Blessing of Despair quest route.
