Error 30005 does not identify one confirmed cause for every Elden Ring PC launch failure. Record the full message first—especially whether it says “CreateFile failed with 32”—then use official support and cautious checks rather than deleting files or disabling security software.
What Elden Ring error 30005 means
Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) identifies Error 30005 as a launch error, but the number alone is not enough to diagnose why Elden Ring failed to start. The surrounding wording matters. Rockstar Games Customer Support, in a cross-game article updated July 28, 2025, gives the message “Unfortunately, there was a problem launching the game. Please help us by reporting it. Error code: 30005 (CreateFile failed with 32.)” and associates it with the Epic Games Easy Anti-Cheat service. That is useful context for the wording, not proof that an Elden Ring installation has the same cause. Read Rockstar’s Error 30005 support entry.
Before trying anything, write down or capture the complete message, including any text after the error number. If your message does not say “CreateFile failed with 32,” do not assume that advice about that wording applies to your case.
Where to get Elden Ring-specific help
Start with the Easy Anti-Cheat Player Support FAQs. EAC lists a dedicated Error 30005 topic, and its support index directs players to the relevant game’s support channel when the FAQ does not resolve the issue. The direct Error 30005 article redirected to the general index when checked, so its full step-by-step instructions were not available there.

- ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition
- Update the game and its launcher. Use the launcher associated with your installation to check for and apply available updates, then try starting the game again.
- Check security-software history. Look for a notification or quarantine entry showing that security software blocked an Elden Ring or EAC component. Do not turn off protection as a troubleshooting shortcut. If you find a block, follow the security vendor’s documented process and seek official game support before changing an exception.
- Use only repair or verification options offered for your installation. If your launcher provides an official game-file verification or repair function, use that documented option. Use an EAC service repair option only if it is supplied for your installation through an official source; do not download a standalone anti-cheat file from an unofficial site.
- Check graphics-driver updates if appropriate. Driver updates are among the general checks mentioned in EA’s guidance for its own games. This is not an Elden Ring-specific diagnosis, so prioritize the game’s official support advice for your setup.
If error 30005 persists
Send the official game-support route the full error message and relevant details about your PC setup and how you launch the game. Include what checks you tried and whether the wording includes “CreateFile failed with 32.” That gives support the information needed to distinguish cases without assuming the shared error number proves one cause.
Avoid deleting system driver files, editing the registry, running unknown commands, or using unofficial anti-cheat downloads. The official guidance cited here does not recommend those actions as Elden Ring fixes.
