What are Dryleaf Arts?
Dryleaf Arts is an in-game martial-arts weapon, not physical training equipment. Its item description calls it “a technique for hand-to-hand combat without the aid of a weapon” that combines “fist strikes and kicks.” It also describes the Dryleaf Sect as spiritual seekers and frames the practice as the beginning of an ascetic’s journey. Eldenpedia’s Dryleaf Arts entry reproduces the item text.
How to get Dryleaf Arts
- Reach Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus. Look near the site of grace for the Monk’s Missive and the “May the Best Win” gesture.
- Go to Moorth Ruins and find Dryleaf Dane. The guides place him there for the duel.
- Perform “May the Best Win” in front of Dane. This triggers the challenge; defeat him to obtain Dryleaf Arts.
This route is described by Game8’s acquisition guide and Eldenpedia. Eldenpedia also reports that entering the Miquellan Loyalist boss fight before defeating Dane may cause him to leave Moorth Ruins. That is a reported missability warning, not a confirmed universal lockout, so if Dane is missing, check the relevant quest state rather than assuming the item is permanently unavailable.
Requirements, skill, and damage
- Minimum attributes: 8 Strength and 8 Dexterity, as listed by both cited guides.
- Default skill: Palm Blast.
- Scaling: The weapon uses Strength and Dexterity scaling, according to Game8.
Published base physical attack values conflict: Eldenpedia lists 86, while Game8 lists 80. Eldenpedia labels its source text 1.12, and Game8’s page was last updated July 30, 2024. Because these figures may reflect different game versions or data states, check the item’s status screen in your current game rather than relying on one number.

Choosing an affinity and playstyle
Dryleaf Arts is built around close-range hand-to-hand attacks. Palm Blast is the default skill, but the cited build guide discusses changing skills and affinities. There is no universally best setup established by these sources: choose based on how your attributes scale, whether you want status buildup, and how much exposure you are willing to accept while attacking.
- Favor aggressive pressure if you are comfortable staying close and managing the risk of being interrupted or hit during attacks.
- Favor a more cautious approach if you would rather prioritize openings and avoid extended exchanges at point-blank range.
- Recheck the current patch when comparing damage or affinity choices; recommendations can depend on game version and your stat spread.

What you need to access it
Dryleaf Arts is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, not the base game’s equipment pool. Bandai Namco states that Shadow of the Erdtree requires the Elden Ring base game to play. You therefore need access to both the base game and the expansion to follow this route.
