ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN launched worldwide on May 30, 2025. The official schedule, published in Japan local time, set PlayStation and Xbox play to begin at midnight on May 30 and Steam play to begin at 7 a.m. that day. Because those times are Japan-local, players elsewhere saw the unlock on May 29 or May 30 depending on their time zone.
Official Nightreign release times by platform

The official schedule is available on Bandai Namco’s download and play-start announcement. FromSoftware also confirmed May 30, 2025, as the worldwide release date in its release announcement.
Why the local release date may be May 29
“Worldwide release” refers to the shared launch moment, not necessarily the same calendar date or clock time in every region. The official clock values above are JST. In time zones west of Japan, that moment can fall on the evening of May 29. For example, a contemporaneous Windows Central guide listed console unlock examples of May 29 at 9 p.m. PDT and May 30 at midnight EDT; its PC examples were May 29 at 3 p.m. PDT and May 30 at 6 p.m. EDT. These are regional examples, not a complete official time-zone table; check the platform store’s listing for your region if you need a local confirmation.

Steam did not unlock at the same Japanese clock time as consoles
In the official schedule, PlayStation and Xbox players could start at 00:00 JST on May 30, while Steam players could start at 07:00 JST. That is a seven-hour difference in the published Japan-local times. The shared May 30 worldwide release date should not be read as every platform unlocking at the same local clock time.
When preloads began
Preloading was also platform-dependent. PS4 and PS5 downloads began at 00:00 JST on May 28, 2025; Xbox and Steam downloads began at 07:00 JST that day. The announcement lists download availability separately from the time the game became playable, so downloading early did not mean early access.

Platforms, standalone play, and physical editions
FromSoftware lists PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam as platforms for Nightreign. It is a standalone game: owning the original ELDEN RING is not required. Bandai Namco currently marks the game “Available Now” on its official product page.
Physical package versions were confirmed for PS5 and PS4. FromSoftware also announced a limited package Collector’s Edition containing a Wylder statue, hardcover art book, steelbook, and character card set. The edition does not change the platform’s unlock time; current retailer stock and pricing are not established by the release schedule.
