EmuDeck 2.7 adds AutoMap for controller setup on SteamOS/Linux, including support for up to four players, and expands support for Steam Machine configurations. The update also broadens resolution presets, adds setup improvements for RetroAchievements and Dolphin, and makes it possible to export an EmuDeck installation to another device.
What changed in EmuDeck 2.7?
The public-channel EmuDeck 2.7.1 build was reported on September 29, 2026. Detailed early-access notes for 2.7.0 were published September 14; the public GitHub release body was empty, so the feature details below come from EmuDeck’s published update notes.
EmuDeck documents version 2.7 for SteamOS/Linux and Windows. AutoMap is a SteamOS/Linux feature; Windows receives separate fixes. The changes span controller setup, Steam Machine configuration, emulator resolution options, achievements and device migration.
How AutoMap handles controllers
AutoMap is intended for emulators that do not detect controllers automatically. Enable it to let EmuDeck configure controls, with setup for up to four players. The update names Steam Controller, 8BitDo, Xbox and DualSense controllers, along with controllers connected to other Linux handhelds or distributions.

This is useful for multiplayer setups and for Linux hardware beyond Steam Deck. The listed controller families are compatibility targets, not a promise that every pad will work identically: behavior can depend on the Linux distribution, connection method and emulator.
What Steam Machine support includes
EmuDeck 2.7 adds default 1080p and 4K configurations in selected emulators. These are preset resolution labels, not performance guarantees; the notes do not establish how a particular game will run at either setting.

The new configurations build on an earlier Steam Machine update that addressed SD-card detection and missing emulator controls. When an affected emulator was launched from Game Mode, the fixes applied automatically; users did not need to reinstall EmuDeck or switch to Desktop Mode.
Which emulators gained resolution options?
The resolution selector now covers PPSSPP, Xemu, Vita3K, Azahar and PrimeHack. EmuDeck also fixed the installation path so the selected resolutions apply correctly.

Achievements, gyro and emulator setup changes
- EmuDeck now uses the newer RetroAchievements API and adds Dolphin RetroAchievements setup.
- Ryujinx setup automatically installs SteamDeckGyroDSU on Steam Deck. The published note limits this change to Steam Deck and says Steam Controller support was still under investigation.
- Steam ROM Manager has a new RPCS3 ISO parser, and RPCS3 configuration cleanup is included.
- Xemu saves configuration during initialization; Supermodel gains a Desktop Mode launch fix; and RMG receives an updated controller profile.
- Old Citra, Lime3DS and Suyu launchers were removed.
- Windows fixes cover EmuDeck Compressor and Start Menu links. The Windows notes also say Dolphin and PrimeHack now download current releases rather than older fixed versions.
Can you move an EmuDeck setup to another device?
Yes. EmuDeck’s changelog says users can export an installation to another device, including Steam Deck to Steam Machine and Linux to Windows. This supports cross-device migration, but the notes do not specify that every emulator setting, storage path or platform-specific configuration will transfer unchanged.
For a migration, use EmuDeck’s import/export option and check the destination device’s emulator settings and game-library paths afterward. The notes establish the cross-device export capability, but do not provide a detailed migration procedure or guarantee that every setup requires no adjustment.

Who benefits most from the update?
- Linux handheld and living-room users: AutoMap broadens controller setup beyond Steam Deck and supports up to four players.
- Steam Machine users: Selected emulators gain 1080p/4K defaults, alongside earlier Game Mode fixes for SD cards and missing controls.
- People moving devices: Import/export is designed for transfers between devices and across Linux and Windows.
