If ENA: Dream BBQ crashes after the Lonely Door sequence, a community-reported Steam workaround may help: add -force-driver-type-warp to the game’s launch options, get to the next save point, then remove the option and relaunch. It can make the game extremely slow, and it is not an official or guaranteed fix. For other crash types, start with an update and Steam’s file verification instead.
Try the workaround for a crash after Lonely Door
The launch option below comes from a player report about a crash after Lonely Door, Chapter 1. It is not a developer-confirmed fix and may not apply if your game crashes at startup, during a video, or on another platform. Read the original Steam discussion.
- Open Steam and go to Library.
- Right-click ENA: Dream BBQ and select Properties.
- Stay on the General tab and find Launch Options.
- Enter
-force-driver-type-warp, then close Properties. - Launch the game. Expect severe slowdown while the option is active.
- If it gets past the crash, continue only until the next reliable save point. The player report identifies the hourglass indicator as the save cue; wait for it to complete.
- Exit the game, delete the launch-option text, and launch normally.
This is a temporary way to try to get past a particular section, not a recommended permanent setting. If you cannot reach a save point or the game still crashes with the option enabled, remove it and move on to the general checks below.

If it crashes again after removing the option
The player who reported the workaround said the first normal launch crashed again, but a further attempt loaded successfully. If your first relaunch fails, try one more normal launch or load before deciding it did not work. That result is anecdotal, not a guarantee.

If your save seems damaged or missing, do not delete local game files or configuration folders in an attempt to repair it. No verified save-file location or developer-approved save-repair procedure is established here. Back up any save data only if you can identify it safely.
General fixes for other crashes
Update the game, then verify its files
Check that Steam has installed available game updates. The published notes for versions 1.0.5-f1 and 1.0.6 list collider, softlock, resolution-menu, and miscellaneous fixes; version 1.0.6 also added a low-quality video preference. Those notes do not establish that every crash is fixed. See the Steam announcements.
To verify the installation in Steam:
- Restart the computer and open Steam.
- Go to Library, right-click the game, and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files, then Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the check to finish and try the game again.
Steam notes that some files may fail validation because local configuration files are excluded from replacement. One such message does not by itself prove verification failed. See Steam’s verification guidance.

For a diagnostic launch, disable non-essential software that hooks into games, then test again. Candidates include Steam, Discord, or Xbox Game Bar overlays; NVIDIA or AMD overlays; MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner; screen recorders; RGB or hardware-monitoring utilities; and third-party antivirus game shields. This is a general isolation step, not evidence that any one of these tools is a known cause of this game’s crash. Re-enable tools one at a time after testing.

Steam recommends testing without interfering software as part of launch troubleshooting. Its guidance also covers updating Windows and graphics drivers and comparing your PC with the game’s requirements: Steam launch troubleshooting. If you update a graphics driver, get it from the GPU maker: NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel. No specific driver version is confirmed as a fix for ENA: Dream BBQ.
Check requirements and free storage
The Steam listing specifies 64-bit Windows 7 or later, a dual-core processor, 6 GB RAM, DirectX 11-capable graphics, and 10 GB storage as minimum Windows requirements. Recommended Windows hardware is Windows 10 or 11, an Intel i3-12100F or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 1650 or RX 570. An SSD is recommended. There is an important Windows caveat: although the game lists Windows 7 or later, Steam Client support on Windows has required Windows 10 or later since January 1, 2024. The game’s listed minimum and the current Steam Client requirement are separate limits. Meeting minimum specs also does not guarantee smooth performance on every configuration.
Use the executable only to identify an error
If Steam does not show a useful message, Steam suggests trying a third-party game’s executable directly from its install folder to see whether a different error appears. The default folder is often C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon, but a Steam library can be elsewhere. Treat this as a diagnostic, not a permanent replacement for launching through Steam; behavior such as overlays or cloud features may differ. See Steam’s direct-launch guidance.

If the problem is stuttering or a cutscene freeze
A low frame rate or a video that appears frozen is not necessarily the same as the game process crashing. Version 1.0.6 added a Low-Quality video preference for most videos to reduce stuttering on lower-end hardware. Try that setting if the issue is video performance, but do not assume it fixes a hard crash. Players have also discussed cutscene freezes and storage-load concerns, but those reports are anecdotal rather than confirmed causes: cutscene discussion and performance discussion.
Platform-specific notes
Windows
The -force-driver-type-warp report is a Steam launch-option workaround in a Windows-style context and specifically concerns the crash after Lonely Door. Do not treat it as a universal Windows crash fix.
Linux and Steam Deck
The game lists SteamOS/Linux support with Ubuntu 18.04 or similar, a dual-core processor, 6 GB RAM, Vulkan-capable graphics, and 10 GB storage. However, the reported launch-option workaround does not establish a fix for Proton or Steam Deck. If you are running through Proton, check platform-specific Steam Play community discussions rather than assuming a Windows workaround applies.
macOS
The game lists macOS 10.13, 64-bit, 6 GB RAM, Metal-capable graphics, and 10 GB storage as minimums. For a Mac launch failure, Steam’s general guidance includes updating macOS, verifying game files, and testing without non-essential applications. The Lonely Door launch-option report does not confirm a Mac fix.

When to contact ENA Team
If the crash continues after updating and verifying, contact the game’s developer, ENA Team, at [email protected]. Steam directs players to third-party developers for bugs that occur after a game has loaded; see Steam’s support guidance.
Include the exact crash point (for example, immediately after Play, after the Unity logo, after Lonely Door, during a cutscene, or while loading a save), the error text or screenshot, your operating system and hardware, whether file verification completed, and whether the launch option changed the behavior. Mention if you use Linux/Proton or macOS. This information helps distinguish a launch failure from a save-, video-, or platform-specific problem.

Does the workaround work on Steam Deck or Linux?
That has not been established. The report does not confirm a Proton or Steam Deck fix, so use platform-specific troubleshooting.
Is the game fixed in the latest update?
The available patch notes list fixes and a low-quality video setting, but they do not prove that all crash cases are resolved.
