Epic Games Store’s giveaway of Dragon Age: Inquisition – Game of the Year Edition was real, but it is no longer available. The promotion ran from May 16 to May 23, 2024. Anyone who claimed the game during that window keeps it in their Epic library; everyone else must buy it or access it through EA Play.
When was Dragon Age: Inquisition free on Epic?
Epic offered the Game of the Year Edition during its 2024 MEGA Sale, from May 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. EDT until May 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. EDT. That was 4:00 p.m. BST and 5:00 p.m. CEST. Epic’s announcement described a fixed free-claim period, not a trial or ordinary discount: Epic’s MEGA Sale announcement.
The offer has expired. Epic’s current product listing is for a purchase or EA Play access, not a live giveaway. Availability and prices can vary by region. The historical announcement does not establish that the promotion was available in every territory.

What did the giveaway include?
It was the Game of the Year Edition, not just the base game. Epic lists the following included content on the edition’s product page:

The three named expansions add substantial story content beyond the main campaign. This is the specific bundle Epic gave away; it should not be taken to mean that every cosmetic or later update is included.
Does a claim still belong to you?
Yes. Epic says a game successfully claimed during its free promotion remains in the claimant’s library permanently, even if it was never downloaded at the time. The key was completing the claim before the deadline—not installing the game before May 23. Epic’s free-game support guidance also lists an Epic account and two-factor authentication among the requirements for claiming free games.
How to install and launch an existing Epic claim
The Epic version depends on EA services as well as Epic. Epic lists an EA account, the EA app, linked Epic and EA accounts, an internet connection and online activation as requirements. Its listing also says access is limited to one EA account and one Epic account and is non-transferable after redemption.

- Find the Game of the Year Edition in your library and start its installation.
- Install or update the EA app if prompted, then sign in to the EA account you intend to link.
- Complete the account-linking and online-activation prompts before launching.
Launcher screens and prompts can change, so follow the current instructions shown by Epic and EA rather than relying on an exact button sequence.

What to check if it is missing or will not start
The game is not in the Epic library
- Check that you are signed into the Epic account used for the 2024 claim.
- Review your Epic account or transaction history to confirm the claim completed before May 23, 2024.
- Check library filters, including whether the game is hidden, then restart or update the Epic Games Launcher.
If the history shows a completed claim but the license is unavailable, contact Epic support. Epic lists Dragon Age: Inquisition – Game of the Year Edition among games covered by its EA-game support channel.
The game will not activate or launch
First confirm the EA app is installed and current, and that the Epic account is linked to the EA account that holds the entitlement. If those checks do not resolve it, consult Epic or EA support. Account mismatches, license synchronization, launcher permissions, security software, damaged files, drivers and compatibility with newer Windows versions can all be factors; the store requirements do not establish one universal fix.

What can you do if you missed the promotion?
You can buy the game through Epic or EA, or access it through EA Play while eligible. EA Play is subscription access to a catalog, not a permanent purchase. Check the relevant regional storefront for current terms and price: Epic’s listing can show a localized price or sale, while EA’s game page provides EA app purchase and subscription information. A price displayed for one region should not be treated as universal.

If you may have claimed the giveaway, check your Epic library before paying. If you did not, compare the current Epic and EA app offers; consider EA Play if you also want its broader catalog, rather than subscribing solely on the assumption that the game becomes permanently yours.

Epic lists these legacy PC requirements for the game. They are the store’s published requirements, not a guarantee about compatibility with current Windows releases, drivers, overlays, ultrawide monitors or handheld PCs.

Epic’s listing identifies BioWare as developer and Electronic Arts as publisher, and rates the game for mature content including blood, intense violence, nudity, sexual content and strong language. EA also notes user interaction and optional in-game purchases. Check the Epic listing and EA’s page for current platform and content details.
