Epic Games Store’s third-party mobile games are already live: Epic announced the first batch on January 23, 2025. The rollout included 17 games on Android worldwide and 15 on iPhone and iPad in the European Union. For U.S. players, the practical distinction is simple: Epic says its Android store is available globally, but its official materials do not establish general U.S. availability for the iPhone or iPad store.
What launched, and what “third-party” means
Epic’s mobile storefront first arrived on August 16, 2024, with Epic’s own games. Its third-party rollout came later, on January 23, 2025. “Third-party” means games published by developers or publishers other than Epic; it does not mean every game available on PC has a mobile version or can be installed on a phone.
The first announced batch comprised 17 third-party games for Android worldwide and 15 for iOS in the EU. Epic’s store update the following day described a catalog of approximately 20 third-party mobile games and began its mobile free-games program in the supported territories. Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee and Bloons TD 6 were the first games identified for that program. Epic’s January 23 announcement and its January 24 store update give the launch details.
Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe are Epic’s own mobile titles, not examples of the third-party catalog. The mobile Epic Games Store is a separate storefront to install; it is not an update to Google Play or Apple’s App Store.

Epic’s mobile page lists Android as global and iOS availability as regional. For Japan, its separate announcement reports the iPhone launch, but the difference between that announcement and the mobile page means the third-party catalog’s Japanese availability is not established by these materials.

- Storage: about 25 MB for the Epic Games Store mobile app itself; games require additional space.
How to install the storefront
Android
- Open Epic’s official mobile download page on the device and download the Epic Games Store installer.
- If Android blocks the installation, follow the device prompt to allow installs from the browser or file source you used. The exact label and settings path vary by Android version and manufacturer.
- Complete installation, open the storefront, sign in, and choose a game listed for your device and region.
Epic’s mobile launch announcement warned that Android installation can take extra steps because the storefront is installed outside the standard Google Play path.

iPhone and iPad in supported regions
- Start from Epic’s official regional installation flow on the mobile page.
- Complete Apple’s alternative-app-marketplace authorization requirements and any prompts shown by iOS or Safari.
- Install the Epic Games Store, then browse and download games available for your region and device.
That iOS flow is not a general U.S. installation guide: Epic’s cited materials establish EU availability, not a broad U.S. iPhone or iPad launch.

What players should expect from games and purchases
The mobile catalog is distinct from the PC catalog, and availability can differ by operating system and region. A game missing from your store may be limited to another platform or territory, or simply not published there. Individual games can also handle payments differently: Epic says games may use Epic’s payment processor or a developer’s own processor. Its mobile page has described purchases made directly through the Epic Games Store app as coming “in the near future”; because that wording may be stale, check the current store page for the purchase options actually shown.
Do not assume that buying or claiming a mobile game gives you the same entitlement on another device. Epic support says a game purchased or redeemed through Epic Games Store Mobile is available only on the platform where it was obtained. Epic’s support article explains that limitation. Cross-play or shared progress is separate and game-specific: Epic cites Fortnite and Fall Guys as supporting cross-platform play and account progression, but that is not a blanket promise for every mobile title.

For players, the appeal is an additional storefront and its free-game offers. The trade-offs are a separate installation, security and authorization prompts, a smaller and region-dependent catalog, and potentially separate update, payment, refund or support arrangements. If an Android installation is blocked, check the source-install permission requested by the device. If a purchase does not appear elsewhere, first check which platform redeemed it and whether the game itself supports shared entitlements.
Why iPhone availability is different
Epic’s initial mobile launch included its own games on Android worldwide and iOS in the EU; its January 2025 third-party rollout preserved that Android-versus-EU iOS split. iOS alternative marketplaces depend on regional rules and Apple’s authorization process, so a store being available on an iPhone in one territory does not establish availability everywhere. Epic has publicly criticized Apple’s restrictions and fees; those criticisms are Epic’s position, not by themselves a regulator’s or court’s finding. For users, the operational consequence is that country and platform matter as much as the game.

What the store terms mean for developers
Epic announced a 12% store fee on payments processed by Epic and 0% store fee on payments processed through a developer or another third-party provider. Those are Epic’s stated storefront terms, not a complete estimate of distribution costs. Developers still need to account for payment processing, taxes, customer support, compliance, user acquisition, platform reach and the work of maintaining separate builds or entitlement systems. Epic’s announcement of its mobile-store terms sets out the commission model.
On iOS, Apple’s Core Technology Fee is a separate issue from Epic’s commission. Epic says Apple charges €0.50 for certain installations after the applicable threshold is passed, and says it will cover that fee for developers participating in its iOS/iPadOS free-games program. Epic has also called that arrangement unsustainable over the long term. The fee is not described as a charge on every Epic mobile game or every installation, so developers should assess the applicable Apple rules and thresholds rather than treating it as universal. Epic’s explanation of the EU rollout and fee dispute provides its account.
For a developer, the key question is whether incremental audience and discoverability justify distribution friction and operational costs. Epic’s stated commission alone does not establish that publishing will be more profitable, and the official materials cited here do not establish that every developer can self-publish immediately.

Who should consider using it?
- Android players: Epic offers a genuine alternative storefront with global availability and promotions, if you are comfortable installing it separately.
- EU iPhone and iPad players: The store is a real option, subject to device requirements, regional rules and the installation authorization steps.
- U.S. iPhone and iPad players: Do not assume Epic’s iOS storefront is generally available; the official information cited here does not establish that.
- Developers: Compare the reachable audience, payment model, Apple-specific costs where relevant, discoverability and support burden rather than treating a lower store fee as a complete business case.
