Epomaker x AULA F75 review: A feature-packed budget keyboard with important compromises

The Epomaker x AULA F75 remains a feature-packed budget 75% keyboard, but its value depends on the current price, switch, software support, and seller.

Verdict: The Epomaker x AULA F75 remains an excellent budget 75% mechanical keyboard when you can find the right configuration near $70. It combines gasket mounting, hot-swappable switches, PBT keycaps, RGB, a rotary knob, three connection modes, and a 4,000mAh battery. Its compromises are equally clear: the case is plastic, the original F75 lacks a number pad and enthusiast firmware confirmation, and current stock, software, and support can vary by version and seller.

The original review price was $69.99, but Epomaker’s official pages showed roughly $71.99 to $79.99 in an August 2026 check, with some colors and switch combinations sold out. Check the exact layout, switch, stock status, and return terms before buying.

What is the Epomaker x AULA F75?

The F75 is an 80-key, 75% compact mechanical keyboard. It keeps the function row, arrow keys, and a navigation cluster while removing the dedicated number pad. That makes it substantially smaller than a full-size keyboard without forcing you to give up the keys most people use for everyday typing, coding, and gaming.

It is also important to distinguish the original F75 from the newer F75 Max. The Max adds a TFT display and has separately published polling-rate, latency, and battery figures. Those specifications should not be attributed to the original F75.

Price and availability

The F75 launched at an appealing $69.99 price. As of August 16, 2026, Epomaker’s official pages showed prices around $71.99 to $79.99, depending on the page and configuration. Several variants were unavailable, so there is no single universally available F75 specification.

Configurations have included LEOBOG Reaper, LEOBOG Ice Vein, and TTC Crescent switches. Current product pages also list LEOBOG Greywood V3 and Dream Sakura options, although availability varies. ANSI and selected ISO layouts, including German, Spanish, and French versions, may also be offered depending on region.

Check the exact F75 configuration at Epomaker before ordering. The selected switch, keycap version, LED orientation, layout, shipping terms, and return eligibility all matter.

Design, layout, and build

The F75’s plastic case keeps the price down, but it does not make the board feel like a bare-bones office keyboard. Its gasket-mounted structure and internal dampening give the keys a softer, less rigid feel than a conventional tray-mounted board.

A rotary knob in the top-right corner handles multimedia control, while two pairs of adjustable feet provide three typing angles. There is a charging indicator near the upper-left area, a mode switch on the rear, and storage for the 2.4GHz receiver. The USB-C port is not deeply recessed, which makes it easier to use aftermarket cables.

The 75% layout is the central trade-off. It saves desk space and retains navigation keys, but spreadsheet-heavy users and anyone who enters numbers frequently will likely prefer a full-size or 96% keyboard.

Typing feel and sound

The strongest hands-on coverage is positive. Laptop Mag found its LEOBOG Reaper sample smooth, light, relatively quiet, and comfortable for extended typing. The reviewer recorded 100 words per minute at 98% accuracy on Monkeytype, but that is an individual result, not a standardized keyboard benchmark.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Prime Audio Reviews also praised the gasket feel, stabilizers, keycaps, and internal dampening. Its TTC Crescent sample, however, felt too light for that reviewer and caused accidental presses. That difference illustrates why the switch option matters as much as the keyboard itself.

Epomaker uses two PORON layers, an IXPE switch pad, a PET sound-enhancement layer, a bottom silicone pad, and factory-lubricated switches. Together with the gasket construction, those parts help explain the softer and lower-pitched sound reported by reviewers.

Still, “quiet,” “thocky,” and “marbly” are not guarantees. The final sound depends on the switch, keycap version, desk surface, typing force, room acoustics, spacebar, and stabilizers. The board may also use north- or south-facing LEDs depending on the version.

Switch choices and hot-swapping

The LEOBOG Reaper is a light linear switch with approximately 45gf actuation force according to the original review. It suits users who like a smooth, fast keypress for gaming and rapid typing, but it may feel overly sensitive if you rest your fingers heavily or frequently bottom out.

EPOMAKER X Aula F75 MAX Wireless Mechanical Keyboard with TFT Screen and Knob, Gasket Gaming Keyboard in 75% Layout, Hot Swappable, RGB Backlight, for PC/Mac/Linux (Black Gradient)
  • Compact Size, Function Core: With 80 programmable keys and a customizable screen, the F75 Max upgrades from its successful predecessor EPOMAKER X Aula F75 with equal reliability and incredible new functions. Revel in the convenience the volume knob offers and enjoy the Gif-showing screen that makes Backlight customization fun and easy. With connectivity, battery monitor and indicator lights combined in one, the F75 Max keyboard with TFT smart display will be your inseparable helper and productivity booster in gaming and life
  • Stylish and Ergonomic: Say goodbye to wrist strain and finger fatigue, as this Cherry-profile keyboard becomes your ergonomic assistant in browsing the digital world. With the 2cm-low front height and a 2-stage adjustable kickstand, typing angle can be as high or low as your comfort calls for. The Gasket-Mount structure separates F75 Max’s PCB from its shell to rid the harsh bottom-out, while the flex-cut PC plate gives it extra flexibility for soft and soothing typing
  • Satisfying Creamy Sound: Indulge in the creamy smooth melody of F75 MAX, composed by the rhythmic thud of every keystroke. Factory-lubed and tuned, the stabilizers and linear switches sound as incredible as they feel, with the right amount of creamy and thocky combined. Full of foams and silicone sandwiched between plate, PCB and bottom case, noise caused by echo within the keyboard is eliminated, while the IXPE switch pad and PET pad highlight the mellow switch sound that’s rich and pleasant
  • Versatile Gaming Keyboard: Game in style with this anti-ghosting keyboard that performs stably without double chattering or mistype in BT, 2.4Ghz wireless and cable mode, with 1000hz polling rate in USB and 2.4G modes. Its support of NKRO allows gamers to input multiple keys simultaneously, handy in FPS and Rhythm Games, while its compatibility with Android, Windows, Mac and Linux is valuable for programmers and clerks in the office
  • Custom Keyboard with Compatibility: As personalization being our core branding, our F75 Max isn’t shy in the realm of customization. With south-facing per-key LEDs and light diffusers on the Reaper switches, the RGB Backlight shines brightly with pre-set dynamic effect, adjustable in color and style via software, screen and shortcut. The hot-swappable F75 MAX comes with plate-mount stabilizers but is compatible with 3/5-pin mechanical switches and screw-in stabilizers for experimenting typing feel and sound, while the software offers key remapping and macro editing for efficiency and accessibility

TTC Crescent switches are also linear and were considered similarly light by one reviewer. LEOBOG Ice Vein, Greywood V3, and Dream Sakura variants appear among the original or current configuration options, but availability is inconsistent.

Because the PCB is hot-swappable, you can replace compatible switches without soldering. Confirm the switch’s pin configuration and compatibility before ordering replacements. Hot-swap support is useful, but it does not mean every switch will produce the same sound, force, or LED result.

Keycaps and RGB lighting

The F75 uses Cherry-profile double-shot PBT keycaps. PBT generally resists shine better than many ABS keycaps, while double-shot construction is intended to keep legends from wearing away like printed legends. Those terms do not guarantee perfect legend alignment, texture, or fit on every production variant.

Per-key RGB is advertised at 16.8 million colors. Side-printed versions use south-facing LEDs, while other versions use north-facing LEDs. This affects shine-through brightness and compatibility with some aftermarket keycaps, so check the exact variant if customization is a priority.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz performance

The F75 supports USB-C wired operation, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless through a USB receiver. Laptop Mag reported that all three modes worked smoothly on its unit and found the 2.4GHz connection responsive during gaming. Prime Audio Reviews likewise considered 2.4GHz suitable for demanding online play.

These are hands-on observations, not independently measured latency results. For latency-sensitive gaming, use wired or 2.4GHz mode. Bluetooth is convenient for laptops and general productivity, but it is normally the least appropriate choice for competitive play.

The F75 is a capable general-purpose gaming keyboard, not a specialist competitive board. It has conventional mechanical switches, no adjustable actuation, no rapid-trigger feature, no dedicated macro keys, and no number pad. It is also not a Hall-effect keyboard.

Battery and charging

The original F75 has a 4,000mAh rechargeable lithium battery and charges through USB-C. Epomaker does not provide a verified universal runtime for the original model in the reviewed material, so an exact hours figure would be misleading.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Actual runtime changes with RGB brightness and effects, wireless mode, sleep settings, connection distance, battery age, and firmware behavior. The F75 Max lists 30.5 hours with lighting on and 80 hours with lighting off, but those are F75 Max figures and should not be transferred to the original F75.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

Software, remapping, and Mac support

Software is one of the F75’s least certain areas. Older official listings describe downloadable F75 software as Windows-only. Epomaker’s current manual page instead promotes Epomaker Hub, a browser-based configurator for remapping keys, creating macros, and adjusting lighting.

Before buying, verify that the tool detects your exact hardware revision reliably. Also check whether remaps are saved to the keyboard or require the configurator to remain active. The available evidence does not confirm VIA or QMK support for the original F75, so it should not be purchased on the assumption that it has either.

Basic typing should work on macOS and Linux as a standard keyboard, but that is different from full configuration support. Mac and Linux users who need mature, documented remapping tools should consider a board with explicit QMK/VIA compatibility.

What is in the box?

  • Keyboard

  • Two extra switches

Epomaker notes that packaging and included accessories may vary slightly.

Reliability, warranty, and buying risk

Epomaker advertises a one-year warranty and 30-day returns for unused items in original packaging. Customer feedback on the official product page is mixed: positive comments praise the sound, feel, and value, while negative reports mention shipping problems, slow support, cable failures, spacebar retention issues, and allegedly failed keys.

Those reports are anecdotal and do not establish a failure rate. They do, however, make seller choice important. Buy from a seller with a clear return process, keep the order number and packaging, and photograph the shipment if damage is possible.

Test every key, both wireless modes, RGB, the knob, charging, and battery behavior immediately after delivery. Confirm whether warranty claims are handled by Epomaker or by the third-party seller.

F75 versus F75 Max

The F75 Max is a newer related model rather than a revised specification sheet for the original. Its notable additions include a TFT display and published claims of 1,000Hz polling over wired and 2.4GHz connections, 125Hz over Bluetooth, and claimed latencies of 3ms, 7ms, and 18ms respectively.

It also publishes battery estimates of 30.5 hours with backlighting on and 80 hours with it off. Those figures belong to the F75 Max. Choose it if the screen and more explicit gaming specifications justify its price; choose the original F75 if you mainly want the lower-cost combination of wireless connectivity, hot-swapping, RGB, and a knob.

See the official F75 Max page for its separate specifications.

Alternatives worth considering

Alternative Why choose it What you give up or change
Keychron V1 Max Better fit if documented QMK/VIA-style customization and a more established enthusiast ecosystem matter most. Compare its exact configuration and price; it may not offer the same F75 switch, sound, or stock package.
MonsGeek M1 series Better for buyers who prioritize a heavier aluminum 75% platform. Typically more expensive and less portable than the plastic F75.
Epomaker HE68 Better for competitive players interested in magnetic or Hall-effect-style features. It is a different gaming-focused design, not a like-for-like F75 replacement.
Royal Kludge R75 A competing budget 75% option worth checking when price or stock is the deciding factor. Verify the exact model’s layout, software, connectivity, and included features before purchase.

Who should buy the F75?

  • Buy it if you want a compact keyboard with a function row, wireless flexibility, hot-swappable switches, RGB, a knob, and a softer typing feel near the $70 price point.
  • Buy only after checking if you need a specific ANSI or ISO layout, a particular switch, Mac or Linux remapping, or a reliable return path.
  • Skip it if you need a number pad, aluminum construction, confirmed VIA/QMK support, adjustable actuation, rapid trigger, or Hall-effect gaming features.

Final verdict

The Epomaker x AULA F75 offers an unusually complete feature set for a budget mechanical keyboard. Its gasket construction, smooth linear options, hot-swap PCB, PBT keycaps, tri-mode connectivity, RGB, knob, and large battery make it a strong first mechanical keyboard and a practical everyday gaming board.

It is not a universal “do it all” keyboard. The plastic case, light stock switches, missing number pad, uncertain software path, lack of confirmed VIA/QMK support, and mixed support feedback matter. At around $70, those compromises are reasonable for many buyers. At the upper end of its current observed pricing—or when a desired configuration is unavailable—the F75 becomes much easier to replace with a more specialized board.
