The decision, recorded by Demant in August 2023, reflects a strategic shift toward Enterprise Solutions—not the end of Sennheiser’s entire headphone business. Existing warranty commitments remain in place according to EPOS, and owners of gaming or office headsets from the former Sennheiser Communications operation should use EPOS support channels.
The short answer
- EPOS’s gaming-headset portfolio is being wound down and is now described by EPOS as phased out.
- Demant’s 2023 annual report records the decision to wind down the Gaming business in August 2023.
- EPOS says the change does not affect product warranties.
- Warranty claims generally start with the original retailer or point of purchase; technical help remains available through EPOS.
- Sennheiser Consumer Audio has not shut down all headphone operations. Its consumer products are separate from the former Sennheiser Communications gaming business.
- There is no verified active EPOS gaming-release roadmap, so remaining stock should be treated as a declining ecosystem rather than an expanding platform.
What exactly is being wound down?
The change covers the gaming-headset portfolio, not every EPOS product. EPOS is concentrating on Enterprise Solutions, including office-focused ADAPT products. Its gaming pages, manuals and support articles can remain online after a portfolio has been phased out; those pages show that documentation exists, not that a model is still being manufactured or receiving new development.
The affected family includes EPOS-branded gaming headsets, EPOS | Sennheiser products, inherited Sennheiser GAME and GSP models, GSX gaming accessories and partner products such as the Drop + EPOS PC38X. Availability and support can differ by model and country.
When did EPOS make the decision?
Demant’s 2023 annual report records that the decision to wind down the Gaming business was taken in August 2023. This was a wind-down process, not a single worldwide shutdown date. EPOS’s current gaming pages now describe the portfolio as phased out.

- OPEN ACOUSTIC HEADSET DESIGN - Open ear design for more realistic in-game audio
- SPEAKING NATURALLY, LISTENING NATURALLY - Hear your own voice clearly without mic monitoring
- PROPRIETARY HIGH-QUALITY SPEAKER SYSTEM - Enjoy dynamic sound without compromising accuracy
- REDESIGNED BOOM MIC - Slimmer boom arm for a sleek look and smooth voice pick-up experience
- DETACHABLE MAGNETIC BOOM - Conveniently remove the boom arm when not in use, perfect for those using one dedicated microphone
The published explanation is strategic: EPOS says it is increasing its focus on Enterprise Solutions. The available statements do not establish that poor sales, a particular loss, layoffs or a failed product caused the decision.
How Sennheiser’s gaming business became EPOS
Sennheiser Communications was a joint venture involving Sennheiser and Demant. The former enterprise and gaming-headset activities evolved into EPOS under Demant. That is why a Sennheiser logo can appear on a gaming headset whose support and warranty route is now EPOS.
Sennheiser’s consumer headphone and soundbar operation is separate. A conventional Sennheiser consumer headphone may still be sold and supported by its own business, but that does not mean the former Sennheiser Communications gaming line has returned.
Rank #2
- CLOSED ACOUSTIC GAMING HEADSET - Closed-back for better passive noise-cancelling.
- EPOS ENGINEERED AUDIO - High quality audio that delivers the cues needed for quick reaction times.
- STUDIO-QUALITY MICROPHONE - Noise-cancelling microphone for crisp in-game chat; simply raise the flexible boom arm to mute when microphone is no longer in use.
- INTUITIVE VOLUME CONTROL - Make quick adjustments while gaming with a volume wheel on the right ear cup.
- LIGHTWEIGHT ADJUSTABLE FIT - A stainless steel slider in the headband adjusts the fit of the headset. Click stops allow you to remember the most comfortable fit and hinged ear cups can be angled to suit any face shape for maximum comfort.
Sennheiser’s support information also distinguishes these businesses: the spare-parts portal directs owners of office and gaming headsets to EPOS. A Sennheiser-branded gaming product should therefore not automatically be sent to Sennheiser Consumer Audio.
What “phased out” means in practice
No normal expectation of new EPOS gaming releases
EPOS’s current wording supports treating gaming as a closed or declining portfolio. No verified primary-source roadmap establishes regular new EPOS gaming-headset releases. That could change if the company reverses course, but buyers should not purchase on the assumption that a successor model or feature update is imminent.
Existing products do not stop working on a particular date
A phase-out does not disable a headset. Wired models can continue working through their analog connection, while wireless models may remain usable if their battery, transmitter and software function. Product pages and downloads may remain available even as inventory disappears.

Availability is model- and region-dependent
There is no evidence that every historical GAME, GSP, H-series, GSX or PC38X product ended sale on the same day. A listing can represent old warehouse stock, a regional seller or a marketplace listing rather than current production.
Warranty and technical support: the correct route
Warranty claims
EPOS says the gaming phase-out does not impact product warranties. Its return-and-refund guidance tells customers to contact the original point of purchase under the applicable warranty policy. Keep the receipt or order confirmation because a marketplace or liquidation seller may offer less reliable service than an authorized retailer.

Technical help
For manuals, troubleshooting and downloads, use EPOS’s gaming support area rather than Sennheiser Consumer Audio support. For example, EPOS maintains a PC38/PC38X support page. The presence of that page does not guarantee future firmware, driver, software or parts updates.

Regional limits
Warranty terms, consumer-law rights and service options vary by country. Select the correct region in the spare-parts portal and follow the seller’s local policy. The PC38X fact sheet’s two-year international warranty is product documentation; it does not override local law or establish identical handling in every market.
Information to gather before contacting support
- Model name and serial number.
- Purchase date, receipt and order number.
- Retailer and country of purchase.
- For wireless products, whether the headset, charging cable and USB transmitter are present.
- A description of the fault, including whether it affects audio, microphone, charging, pairing or software.
Software, firmware and replacement parts
Archive manuals, firmware files, drivers and EPOS Gaming Suite installers while they remain downloadable. The available sources do not promise a future update schedule, operating-system compatibility or indefinite access.
Wireless products carry more long-term risk because they can depend on a proprietary transmitter, pairing firmware and a battery that degrades in storage. Ear pads, headbands, cables and microphone windscreens are consumables; check the regional spare-parts portal, an authorized service partner or a reputable third-party supplier before buying.

Wired designs are less exposed to software discontinuation. The Drop + EPOS PC38X, for example, is a wired open-acoustic headset with 3.5-mm connections and broad platform compatibility. EPOS’s fact sheet lists a weight of 253 g and compatibility with PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and other devices with a 3.5-mm input: official PC38X fact sheet.

| Check | Why it matters | Lower-risk sign |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Wireless models depend on batteries, transmitters and software. | Wired analog connection with standard cables. |
| Seller | Warranty handling normally begins with the point of purchase. | Authorized retailer with a stated return period. |
| Age and storage | Old stock may have a degraded battery or missing accessories. | Recent inventory, sealed packaging and complete contents. |
| Parts | Unavailable pads, cables or dongles can make a discount false economy. | Compatible parts confirmed before purchase. |
| Software dependence | Future operating-system changes may affect unsupported utilities. | Basic functions work without Gaming Suite. |
| Price | Clearance pricing must compensate for support risk. | Return and warranty protection are clear and the price is materially below current alternatives. |
When a discontinued wired model can make sense
- You specifically want its sound, comfort or boom-microphone design.
- The seller confirms returns and warranty coverage.
- You do not require an active software roadmap.
- You can source pads, cables or other consumables.
- Analog compatibility matters more than wireless convenience.
When to avoid old wireless stock
- The battery is non-replaceable or its condition is unknown.
- The USB transmitter is missing or cannot be replaced.
- The listing is “new” but has been stored for years.
- The headset needs software for basic operation and the seller cannot explain support.
- The seller cannot provide a dependable warranty route.
What to choose instead
Choose by use case rather than by the Sennheiser name alone:
- Integrated-microphone gaming headset: look for a current wired or wireless model with a clearly supported console and PC connection.
- Open-back gaming setup: pair an open-back headphone with a standalone USB microphone if you value spacious sound and can accept separate hardware.
- Wireless gaming: prioritize a replaceable or serviceable battery, an obtainable transmitter and a published support policy.
- General-purpose headphone plus microphone: useful when music and games matter more than chat-mix controls or gaming software.
- Enterprise headset: EPOS ADAPT products such as the ADAPT 560 target meetings and office communication, not console gaming or open-back game imaging. EPOS’s product context is available in its ADAPT 560 announcement.
Do not treat a normal Sennheiser consumer headphone as a one-for-one gaming-headset replacement without checking for an integrated microphone, console compatibility, chat controls and the required connectivity.
Owner checklist
- Save your receipt, order confirmation, model and serial number.
- Start a warranty claim with the original retailer or point of purchase.
- Use EPOS gaming support for technical documentation and troubleshooting.
- Download available manuals, firmware, drivers and Gaming Suite installers.
- Check regional availability of pads, cables, batteries and transmitters before a failure occurs.
- For wireless faults, isolate the battery, charger, transmitter, firmware and headset before replacing the whole unit.
- Do not infer current production or future updates from a product page that remains online.
The Bottom Line
EPOS has wound down the former Sennheiser gaming-headset business, but this is not a shutdown of Sennheiser’s entire headphone operation. Existing owners should use EPOS for technical support and begin warranty claims with the original seller. Remaining wired stock can still be sensible at the right price; old wireless stock carries substantially greater battery, transmitter and software risk.
