The official patch notes describe an optional reset of PvE Zone progression; they do not confirm a wipe of every player profile or game mode. Battlestate Games’ patch notes cover the shipped features, and its official Telegram channel confirmed the update was installed.
Is Escape from Tarkov patch 1.2.0.0 a wipe?
Patch 1.2.0.0 is live, but the official notes do not establish that it globally reset player progress. The documented reset is PvE Prestige: an optional system that resets progression in PvE Zone when a player chooses to Prestige. Treat “wipe” in the update’s title as a question, not confirmation that PvP or every account was reset.
What is new in patch 1.2.0.0?
- Six levels of PvE Prestige, each offering rewards in exchange for a PvE Zone progression reset.
- More active and consistently distributed PMC bots in PvE, with changes to their faction interactions, gear, and difficulty.
- EXFIL Brothers, a referral program pairing eligible veteran players with new players.
- Loot, extracts, and other changes to Customs and Interchange, plus reworked environmental audio on Shoreline.
- Quality-of-life updates, network synchronization improvements, bug fixes, and new voiceover packs.
How PvE Prestige works
Prestige is for players who want to restart progression in PvE Zone in return for rewards and limited carryover. Battlestate Games lists six Prestige levels. Requirements grow more demanding as levels increase and can include character level, tasks, Hideout construction, story completion, stash items and money, and skills. The first PvE Prestige level has lower requirements than its PvP counterpart.
Each Prestige resets profile progression in PvE Zone only. Players may retain some gear, skill percentage, and weapon mastery, with skill and mastery retention of up to 50%. Many rewards remain with the PvE character; the notes identify cross-mode reward types including TarCoins, unique dogtags, shooting-range targets, Hideout posters, melee weapons, Tarko figurines, and a unique Gamma secure container. The exact rewards depend on Prestige level.

Before launch, Battlestate Games said players who had not reset progression since the game’s release could Prestige to receive rewards and unlock release content, the storyline, the Icebreaker chapter, and future events. The final patch notes describe the shipped mechanic; Prestige remains optional and its reset scope is PvE Zone.
Prestige or keep your current PvE profile?
Prestige suits players who want another progression loop and value its rewards enough to give up some progress. Continuing the existing profile avoids that reset. Before choosing, weigh the rewards against the gear, skills, and weapon mastery you would retain, and remember that the stated reset applies to PvE Zone.

EXFIL Brothers: roles, eligibility, and rewards
EXFIL Brothers connects an experienced player, called an Operator, with a new player, called a Candidate. Battlestate Games says the program works across Escape from Tarkov modes and is separate from Escape from Tarkov: Arena.
| Role | Eligibility and setup | What the player can earn |
|---|---|---|
| Operator | Account registered more than seven days earlier and level 30 in any EFT mode. Shares a unique referral link. | Up to 1,200 TarCoins and up to six Bitcoins per Candidate, plus cosmetics and cases. |
| Candidate | Account registered less than seven days earlier. Follows the Operator’s link and confirms the connection while logged in on the website. | Progress-based rewards, including in-game currency, cases, support kits, cosmetics, posters, and achievements. The notes list five support kits, 9.5 million roubles, and 10,000 dollars among Candidate rewards. |
When the pair plays raids together, both receive a 5% XP bonus. Additional rewards depend on Candidate progress or game edition. All listed amounts and items are in-game rewards, not cash values or physical products.

How PvE PMC bots change
The patch changes bot movement, raid presence, faction encounters, and equipment. Battlestate Games describes the intended behavior in its official patch notes; these are developer-stated changes, not independent gameplay test results.
- More consistent presence: PMC bots are present from raid start, appear in more consistent numbers, and are distributed more evenly across locations. New PMC bot spawns were also added to The Labyrinth.
- More purposeful movement: Bots move more actively and less linearly toward points of interest and task areas.
- More faction cooperation: USEC and BEAR PMC bots are significantly more likely to team up and remain non-hostile. A PMC bot may stay neutral to a PMC player until approached or attacked.
- Different Scav encounters: PMC bots are less likely to remain neutral toward Scav bots and more likely to fight Scavs and bosses. They will not attack player Scavs first unless approached or attacked.
- Level-linked danger: Equipment, weapons, and difficulty depend on bot level and faction. Lower-level bots use gear commonly available at lower trader loyalty levels; higher-level bots carry better gear and pose a greater threat.
Map and raid-flow changes
Customs
Customs receives additional PMC and Scav exits, new loot locations in locked Dorms rooms and the USEC warehouse, and other loot placements. Locked containers now have guaranteed loot. Two new keys are included: ZB-1013 Key and Guard Post Key. The patch also fixes several extraction, safe, door, and geometry issues.

Interchange
New loot locations include Emercom, named objects, OLI service areas, Kiba Arms, and other areas. Locked containers now guarantee loot, and new containers include PMC bodies. Cash-register loot templates have changed. Keys are no longer required for registers in standalone ULTRA stores, but remain required in Goshan, IDEA, and OLI.
Shoreline
Environmental audio has been reworked.
Quality-of-life improvements and other additions
- Improved server-side position synchronization is intended to reduce rubber-banding; Battlestate Games said additional network synchronization work was still planned for later updates.
- Ctrl+left-click on an item from a trader or stash switches the trading screen between buying and selling. Items placed on the sales table stay there until you leave the trading menu.
- Players can pin friends, inspect their own PMC dogtag, and use improved context-menu actions for drum magazines.
- An extraction timer appears in white when the raid will end in a Run-Through.
- Profiles let players choose which ending to display, including PvP, PvE Zone, and PvP Seasons profiles.
- The update adds the option to purchase in-game roubles in PvE Zone and USEC Tony and BEAR Den PMC voiceover packs to the Expansions Hub.
The patch notes also list fixes for issues including PvE loading and transitions, visuals and colliders, bot behavior, and task-item handling.
