Start by comparing the launcher with another download on the same connection, checking the launcher’s download limit, and testing Ethernet if you currently use Wi-Fi. These are diagnostic checks, not confirmed fixes.
What is known about the slow download speed issue?
Players have described BSG launcher downloads as unusually slow or inconsistent, including cases where other downloads on the same internet connection appeared normal. A March 8, 2023 community post described that contrast, but it was one player’s account rather than a controlled network test: community report from March 8, 2023.
A discussion published July 12, 2025, with later comments, contains mixed reports and proposed workarounds. Some users said pausing and resuming or changing Windows network settings helped; others reported no improvement or said speeds later fell again. Such accounts cannot establish a current outage, a single technical cause, or an officially validated remedy: community discussion from July 12, 2025.
No current Battlestate Games incident notice or official Tarkov-specific troubleshooting guidance is established here. Treat the symptom as a troubleshooting problem on your own setup, not confirmation that BSG’s servers are at fault.

How to narrow down where the slowdown is happening
Compare another download on the same connection
Try a download from another service while the BSG launcher is slow, or compare downloads made close together under similar conditions. If the other download is also slow, the issue may extend beyond the Tarkov launcher; if it is fast, that contrast is useful but still does not prove a BSG-side cause.
Compare Wi-Fi with wired Ethernet
If your PC is on Wi-Fi, test the launcher over wired Ethernet if practical. A wired comparison can help identify whether the wireless connection is contributing to the symptom. Epic Games Store Support recommends wired testing in its own slow-download guide, but that is general troubleshooting advice for Epic’s launcher, not BSG guidance or a Tarkov-specific fix: Epic Games Store Support slow-download guide.

Great for router-to-PC connections, modem-to-TV setups, gaming consoles, workstations, printers and other home network equipment that needs a longer Ethernet cable.
Check for a launcher download cap
Inspect the BSG launcher’s settings for a configured download limit. If one is enabled, note its value before changing it, then observe whether changing or removing the cap affects the download. A limit check is a sensible diagnostic step; the available player reports do not establish that a cap is the cause in any particular case.
What to try in the BSG launcher
- Record a baseline. Note the launcher’s displayed rate and unit, whether another download is fast on the same connection, and whether you are using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Check the download limit. Look in the launcher settings for a configured cap. Record its current state before making a change.
- Test one change at a time. If you change a limit or switch from Wi-Fi to Ethernet, compare the result with your baseline rather than changing several things at once.
- Try pausing and resuming, or restarting the launcher. Community commenters have reported these as possible checks, but they are not confirmed fixes. Record whether any improvement is immediate and whether it lasts.
Pausing and resuming, restarting, and checking a cap are troubleshooting experiments rather than officially validated BSG remedies. If a change only helps briefly, that is different from a sustained improvement.

- 🔌【Higher Speed】Cat 8 Shielded Ethernet Cable provides performance of up to 40000 Mbps (or to 40 Gigabit per second); High bandwidth of up to 2000 MHz, high-speed data transfer for server applications, cloud storage, online HD video streaming, and gaming without any lag or stop. With Orbram Cat8 ultra-fast patch cord, you won't worry about waste time for waiting.
- 🔌【Anti-Interference Design】Orbram professional network cables are made of 4 shielded foiled twisted pair(S/FTP) copper wires with 24K gold-plated RJ45 connectors on each end. Compared to the Cat 7 network Ethernet cable, the additional shielding and improved quality in twisting of the wires provides better protection from crosstalk, noise, and interference that can degrade the signal quality. This will increase the reliability and accuracy of the data transfer.
- 🔌【More Convenient】Cat 8 rj45 cables are in flat design to avoid tangled cords and save space. Flat Lan cable is super flexible to make it easier to hide or run along any surface. You can easily and immediately install the cable run along walls, follow edges or corners when you receive the durable gigabit ethernet cable.

- 🔌【Incredible Durable】 Double braided nylon exterior make Cat8 Ethernet Cable more durable, flexible and tangle-free. And this sturdy cat 8 patch cord can be bended at least 10 thousands times, so that you can reuse it without any concerns.
Why the displayed download units matter
Launcher rates and internet speed tests may use different units. MB/s means megabytes per second; Mbps means megabits per second; KB/s means kilobytes per second. They are not interchangeable labels, so copy the unit shown beside each number before comparing readings. Community posts about this issue use a mix of MB/s, Mbps, and KB/s, making an unqualified comparison misleading.
Should you change Windows TCP auto-tuning?
A December 21, 2021 third-party guide by GhostArrow suggests disabling and then restoring Windows TCP receive-window auto-tuning with netsh commands: GhostArrow’s TCP auto-tuning guide. This advice is not validated by Battlestate Games, and community reports about network-command workarounds are mixed: some users describe improvement while others report failure or a later drop in speed.

Do not treat this as a guaranteed speed increase. Windows network settings can affect connectivity, so understand the setting and the guide’s instructions before changing it; retain the ability to restore the original configuration. If you are not comfortable doing that, stick to the simpler comparisons above.

- Other downloads are slow too: the symptom is not limited to the BSG launcher, so compare connection conditions and Wi-Fi versus Ethernet before attributing it to Tarkov.
- Other downloads are fast, but the BSG launcher is slow: that is consistent with player reports, but it does not by itself establish a server-side cause.
- A wired test is faster than Wi-Fi: the connection method may be relevant on your setup; this does not guarantee that Ethernet will resolve every launcher slowdown.
- Changing a cap or restarting helps briefly: record the immediate effect and whether it persists rather than treating a temporary change as a confirmed fix.
Community comments also suggest VPN or IPv6 changes, but the reports are anecdotal and do not establish either as a reliable remedy. There is no evidence here to recommend buying a VPN, replacing a router, or purchasing an SSD to solve this download symptom.
