The BTR Driver storyline starts with Mechanic’s task “A Helping Hand” at character level 20. Battlestate Games announced it as available on January 15, 2025, and said the task chain would be permanent.
How to start the BTR Driver storyline
- Reach character level 20.
- Check Mechanic’s available tasks for “A Helping Hand,” the announced opening task.
Battlestate Games’ official Telegram announcement gives that starting point. It does not list any additional prerequisites, so level 20 should not be treated as proof that every account will have immediate access in every client version.
When it became available—and whether it is limited-time
The developer announced the storyline on January 15, 2025; the date is also shown on the official Escape from Tarkov Bluesky account. The announcement said, “The task chain will be permanent.” That is the developer’s stated plan, not a guarantee about availability under every future patch or account condition.
What completing the chain rewards
Battlestate Games announced a new achievement and unique rewards, including barters for new items and weapons, customization items, and more. The launch announcement does not specify reward quantities or provide a complete item-by-item list.

What the launch announcement does—and does not—explain
The official launch post establishes the opening task, level threshold, broad reward categories, and stated permanence. It does not provide a step-by-step objective list for the full chain. A later Tarkov.help quest guide covers BTR Driver quests in a broader storyline context, but that alone does not verify every objective in the chain announced in January 2025. For the confirmed starting point, use Mechanic’s “A Helping Hand” task at level 20.
