Its story follows a man who turns to lucid dreaming in an attempt to reach his comatose fiancée through parallel worlds. The title is shared by other films, so this article covers Bradford’s short, completed in 2021 and shown at festivals in 2022.
What is Anthony Bradford’s Ethereal about?
The Garden State Film Festival describes the premise as a forlorn man experimenting with lucid dreaming to reach parallel worlds and bring back his beloved after she falls into a coma. He believes her soul is stranded in another plane. Bradford’s project page adds a perilous element: an otherworldly entity threatens to devour her soul.

It is a fantasy premise, not evidence that lucid dreaming can contact someone in a coma. Bradford’s filmmaker statement frames the story around dreams, unseen worlds and commitment to a loved one.

Where did Ethereal screen?
Bradford’s project page records a world premiere at the Garden State Film Festival on March 26, 2022, along with additional festival selections. The Garden State Film Festival’s Eventive listing marks its 2022 screening as expired, and Chelsea Film Festival included the short in its 2022 press release. These records document a festival path; they do not establish a current commercial release.
Where can you watch Ethereal now?
The available listings do not substantiate a current full-film stream, rental, purchase, DVD or Blu-ray edition. Bradford’s project page says the short’s Digital Cinema Package was unavailable, while the festival screening listing is expired. Neither fact establishes whether a new viewing option has since appeared, so check the filmmaker’s or festivals’ official pages for current availability.
Rank #2
Is there a feature-length Ethereal?
Priceless Productions describes a feature version as a science-fiction romance in pre-production. That is a time-sensitive status, not confirmation that the feature is currently in production or has a release date. The cited project information gives no feature runtime or release date; the four-minute runtime belongs to Bradford’s short.
How to distinguish this film from other titles called Ethereal
Several short films share the title. To identify the film discussed here, include Anthony Bradford’s name or refer to the Garden State Film Festival screening in 2022. IMDb’s listing for Ethereal (Short 2022) is another indication of title overlap, but Bradford’s project page and the festival listings are the sources for the details above.
