Ginger Island contains 130 Golden Walnuts. They are earned through exploration, puzzles, farming, fishing, combat, mining, quests, Journal Scraps, Field Office work and the Volcano Dungeon. Finding 100 walnuts opens Qi’s Walnut Room, but the first walnut you find is excluded from that counter, so you must collect 101 in practice. The parrot upgrades cost 116 walnuts altogether, leaving 14 for Qi Gems after every upgrade is purchased.
How Golden Walnut tracking works
Leo’s hut parrot can hint at 123 of the 130 locations. It does not hint at the Gem Birds shrine’s southern bush, the three-walnut banana altar, or the three possible Darts Game rewards. The Golden Joja Parrot west of the volcano sells each walnut you have not found for 10,000g and awards purchased walnuts after you sleep.
The checklist below groups every reward by map area. The listed rewards total 130: six general methods, 11 on Island East, 52 on Island West, 49 in Island North and the Volcano area, and 12 on Island South. Some hidden locations are classified by the parrot under a neighboring area.

General Ginger Island walnuts
Golden Coconut — 1
Take Golden Coconuts found anywhere on Ginger Island to Clint in Stardew Valley. The first coconut he opens yields one walnut.
Fishing — 5
Fish anywhere on Ginger Island. Until you have obtained five walnuts this way, each cast has a 15% chance to produce one.
Island East
Jungle path and Leo’s hut — 5
- Jungle bush (1): Check the bush on the path toward Leo’s hut.
- Banana altar (3): Place a Banana on the altar beside the staircase to Leo’s hut. A gorilla gives three walnuts.
- Leo’s tree (1): Hit the tree inside Leo’s hut with an axe.
Gem Birds shrine — 6
- Southern bush (1): From the foot of Leo’s stairs, follow the concealed passage east to the shrine and search south of it. This is one of the three locations the parrot never hints at.
- Gem Birds puzzle (5): Place the correct gem dropped by each island bird on the matching shrine pedestal.
Island West
Farm and Gourmand Frog
- Farm crops (5): Harvest qualifying, non-regrowing crops on the island farm. Each has a 5% chance, up to five walnuts total. Crops that require a scythe and crops that regrow do not qualify.
- Gourmand Frog (15): After repairing the farmhouse, show the frog a mature Melon, then Wheat, then Garlic, one crop at a time before harvesting it. Each requested crop gives five walnuts.
Journal Scraps, mining and the shipwreck
- Journal Scrap #6 dig (1): Read the scrap, then dig the corner tile on the southeast beach where the curved palm’s eastern and northern cliffs meet.
- Mussel Nodes (5): Mining mussel nodes has a 10% chance to yield a walnut, up to five.
- Shipwreck plant (1): Enter the shipwreck through the hidden path at its southwest beach corner and collect the plant inside.
- Journal Scrap #4 (1): Read the scrap and dig north of Birdie’s hut. The reward includes a Quality Bobber and a walnut.
Beach digs and fixed plants
- Whack-a-mole (1): At the beach southeast of Birdie’s hut, trap the mole in one hole with placeable objects and hit it with an axe, pickaxe or watering can. An upgraded watering can can hit it directly.
- Blue starfish triangle (1): Dig the center of the blue-star-shaped triangle on the beach south of the farm.
- Starfish diamond (1): Dig the center of the diamond near the tide pools; a large rock can obscure it.
- Sand X (1): Dig the X in the tide pools.
- Sand-indent diamond (1): Dig the diamond-shaped indents at the lower-left of the tide pools beside the ocean.
- Pond coconut tree (1): Check behind the coconut tree by the pond west of the farm.
Quests, coast bushes and Tiger Slime Grove
- The Pirate’s Wife (5): Complete Birdie’s quest for its five-walnut reward.
- West-coast bush (1): Walk up the western coast toward Qi’s Walnut Room and search the bush near the lower-right cliff.
- Ocean-water bush (1): Walk through the water past Qi’s Walnut Room to reach the bush.
- Tiger Slime Grove slimes (1): Killing slimes can drop one walnut.
- Mahogany-tree walnut (1): Check behind the mahogany tree in Tiger Slime Grove.
- Grass-circle dig (1): Dig the center of the grass circle in Tiger Slime Grove, often hidden behind a mahogany tree.
Parrot Express side paths and Simon Says
- Parrot Express bridge bush (1): From the farm station, cross west over the river and check the bush partly hidden by the southern wall.
- Simon Says cave (3): Complete the memory sequence in the cave north of Tiger Slime Grove.
- Eastern cliff bush (1): From Tiger Slime Grove, follow the cliff edge east, clearing rocks and weeds, then collect the bush at the end.
- Diamond pebbles (1): Dig the center of the diamond-shaped pebbles east of the farm Parrot Express station.
- Hidden east-and-north path bush (1): Follow the concealed path east, then north from the station, to its end.
- Farmhouse-overlook bush (1): Go south from the station, then east along the cliff overlooking the farmhouse.
Island North and the Volcano area
Entrance, dig site and Field Office surroundings
- Entrance stone circle (1): Dig the stone circle immediately west of the Island North entrance stairs.
- Entrance hidden grove bush (1): Follow the concealed passage west of the entrance to the grove bush.
- Flower-circle dig (1): Dig the flower circle in the northeast grassy area.
- Stone-circle dig (1): From the flower circle, continue east to the next grassy area and dig the stone circle.
- Field Office sand patch (1): Dig the unusual sand southeast of the Island Field Office.
- Dig-site stone circle (1): Dig the stone circle at the top of the dig-site’s northern steps.
- Dig-site west plant (1): Cross west over the bridge from the dig site and collect the plant.
- Dig-site east plants (2): Use the hidden cliff passage east of the dig site, cross the bridge and collect both plants.
Island Field Office
- Large Animal collection (6): Complete the Large Animal collection.
- Snake collection (3): Complete the Snake collection.
- Mummified Frog donation (1): Donate a Mummified Frog.
- Mummified Bat donation (1): Donate a Mummified Bat.
- Purple Flowers survey (1): Enter 22 as the answer at the Field Office.
- Purple Starfish survey (1): Enter 18 as the answer at the Field Office.
Volcano entrance and exterior
- Southeast entrance plant (1): Check the plant hidden by a tree southeast of the Volcano Dungeon entrance.
- Entrance sand circle (1): Dig the sand circle east of the entrance between two bushes and an arc of stones.
- Slingshot tree (1): Shoot the curved tree northeast of the entrance with a slingshot.
- Journal Scrap #10 (1): Read the scrap, then dig the visible tile inside the loop of the curved palm southwest of the volcano entrance.
- Northwest stone circle (1): Dig the circle at the extreme northwest, where Leo sometimes stands.
- Northwest hidden bush (1): From northwest of the volcano, follow the wall west and use the notch-like hidden passage to reach the secluded bush.
- Lava-river exit area (2): At the Volcano entrance, water the lava west and then south to make a landing. Exit south into the area containing two bushes.
Volcano Dungeon and Forge
- Volcano Dungeon (17): The dungeon can provide up to five from rocks, five from enemies, five from metal crates, one from a common chest and one from a rare chest.
- Forge entrance and exit plants (2): Reach the Forge and collect one plant at its entrance and one at its exit.
Island South
Cliffs, tide pools and the resort
- Hidden upper-cliff bush (1): From the Island North stairs, go east, then south behind the tree to the bush visible on the upper Island South cliff. The parrot classifies this one as hidden in North.
- Starfish-shaped tide-pool fishing (1): After building the beach resort, fish once in the southeastern starfish-shaped tide pool.
- Yellow-starfish diamond (1): Dig the center of the yellow-star-shaped diamond at Island Southeast.
- Mermaid and Flute Block puzzle (5): On a rainy day after building the resort, tune five Flute Blocks to the beach-rock counts and run past them from left to right.
Pirate Cove
- Darts Game (3): On a non-rainy night after 8 p.m. on an even-numbered day, win the darts game in Pirate Cove. The reward can be collected up to three times. These are not hinted by the Leo-hut parrot.
- Pirate Cove sand patch (1): Dig the exposed sand among the barrels east of the Pirate Cove water.
Unlocks and the order that helps most
Several rewards are inaccessible until you repair or build specific facilities. The practical dependency order is to unlock Ginger Island, repair the farmhouse for the Gourmand Frog, restore the Field Office and its bridge, reach the Volcano and Forge, and build the beach resort for the southern fishing and Mermaid rewards. Journal Scrap walnuts require reading the named scrap before digging.

A walnut flew away near Qi’s Walnut Room
If the walnut north of Qi’s Walnut Room flew off-screen, use the Golden Joja Parrot as the documented workaround: purchase the missing walnut for 10,000g and sleep to receive it.
