Ranked by how much each character drives the story—not by gameplay strength, popularity, or win rate—the League of Legends champions with substantive roles in the series are: Jinx, Vi, Viktor, Jayce, Caitlyn, Ekko, Ambessa, Singed, Warwick, and Heimerdinger. This is an editorial ranking of their importance across both seasons, not an official Riot Games or Netflix list.
How this ranking works
The order weighs four things: narrative centrality, character development, influence on the main conflict, and how complete a character arc the series gives each person. A champion can be important without appearing as often as the leads, and a late or supporting role can still alter the story significantly. The ranking concerns each character as presented in Arcane; the show’s versions do not always map one-to-one to how viewers know these characters from League lore.
Netflix Tudum’s cross-season character guide provides context for the cast. Riot’s champion directory establishes which characters are League champions, but a roster listing alone does not establish that someone appears in the series.

-
Jinx
Jinx is the series’ strongest choice for its most important champion when the criteria are story disruption and character change. Her evolving identity and fraught relationship with Vi sit near the emotional center of both seasons, while her choices repeatedly redirect events around her. Riot’s season-two tie-in also foregrounded her in its in-client story content.

Vi
Vi is the other central sister and the connective point between Zaun, Piltover, and Caitlyn. Her perspective gives the series a direct route into the conflict between the cities, and her relationships keep the political and personal strands closely linked. She could reasonably rank first in a list that gives more weight to protagonist perspective and relationships than to Jinx’s disruptive effect.
-
Viktor
Viktor’s story is central to the series’ technological and arcane conflicts. His consequential bond with Jayce makes the scientific storyline personal as well as political, and his development gives the show one of its most substantial transformations.

Jayce
Jayce drives much of Piltover’s political and technological story. His decisions connect civic power to the arcane technology at the heart of the broader conflict, while his relationship with Viktor gives those choices lasting consequences.
-
Caitlyn
Caitlyn becomes a major force through her investigation, her role in Piltover, and her relationship with Vi. She bridges the cities’ conflict and the sisters’ story rather than remaining only an outside observer. Riot’s season-two announcement also named Arcane Commander Caitlyn among its themed game content.

Ekko
Ekko links Zaun’s resistance and its younger generation to the central conflict. His role reaches beyond a supporting presence: he brings a distinct vision for Zaun and affects how its people respond to the forces shaping the city. Riot’s Wild Rift season-two update included Firelight Ekko among the themed content.
-
Ambessa
Ambessa’s political and military influence becomes much more prominent in season two, where she substantially shapes the later conflict. She ranks below the long-running core characters because her series arc is shorter, not because her role in that conflict is minor. Riot presented her as a champion in its season-two campaign and added her to Wild Rift.
Rank #4
-
Singed
Singed has less screen time than the central characters, but his actions affect multiple major storylines. His ranking reflects the consequences of what he does, rather than the amount of time the series spends following him. Riot’s season-two announcement referenced an exclusive Singed skin tied to Arcane in-client content.
-
Warwick
Warwick’s position depends on how much weight a ranking gives to a consequential transformation and late-story role versus time spent as a distinct participant. He has a significant place in the show’s events, but a shorter stretch of the series to develop as a separate character than the leads do. Riot’s Wild Rift update confirms gameplay updates for Warwick alongside Arcane-season content; the series guide is the relevant reference for his role in the show.

Heimerdinger
Heimerdinger is a supporting character whose mentorship and choices affect the scientific storyline and the people around him. His influence is meaningful, but his arc is less central to the series’ main emotional and political conflicts than those ranked above him. Riot’s Wild Rift update noted his addition to that game’s roster during the season-two celebration and described his inventor role.
What about brief or indirect appearances?
Not every League champion associated with discussion of Arcane has a role substantial enough to rank alongside these ten. Orianna and LeBlanc are best treated cautiously as brief or indirect cases; a champion’s presence in Riot’s directory does not prove a particular appearance in the show. This ranking leaves them out rather than treating ambiguous connections or speculative Easter eggs as confirmed character roles.
Why the order is subjective
The top positions can change depending on what “most important” means. A ranking centered on protagonist perspective could put Vi first; one centered on later political stakes could move Ambessa higher. This list instead balances story-driving influence with the development and completeness of each character’s arc across both seasons. Gameplay power, pick rate, and win rate do not measure screen importance.
