Spoiler warning: This guide names quests and discusses story branches, missable content, and the ending sequence. It organizes the named quests into main-story missions, optional Crossroads story quests, companion quests, and regional quests.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard opens up for exploration after its prologue. EA encourages players to explore for side quests and loot, and says side content and companion quests “will have a direct impact on how the later stages of the game unfold.” The Dragon Age Team made that recommendation in EA’s 2024 launch-period article, “Top Things to Know before You Play.”
How the quest types fit together
The game’s quest journal separates the main plot from optional story missions in the Crossroads, personal companion storylines, and regional side content. The game calls the last category Region Quests. The names below reflect the inventories in Robert Ramsey’s Push Square guide, “Dragon Age: The Veilguard: All Story, Companion, and Side Quests” (Oct. 31, 2024), and PowerPyx’s “Dragon Age The Veilguard All Quests” (Oct. 30, 2024). They are useful reference lists, not an EA-certified exhaustive database; check your in-game journal for exact wording and availability.
- Main story: Missions that advance the central plot, including a mutually exclusive choice between two quests.
- Crossroads story: Optional missions classed as Story quests in the journal, but not required to advance the main plot.
- Companion: Personal story missions for your seven companions, often unlocked through story milestones and conversations at the Lighthouse.
- Region: Side quests associated with locations and their characters, conflicts, or exploration.
Companion stories also build relationships. EA’s romance guide says all seven companions can be romance partners and that questing with them is one way to build a bond.

What quests are missable?
Push Square specifically flags Neve’s “A Study of Dock Town” and Lucanis’s “Coffee with the Crows” as missable if you progress past “A Warden’s Best Friend” without completing them. Check for companion prompts at the Lighthouse and on its map before advancing the main story across that threshold.

Which quests change if you save Treviso or Minrathous?
In Chapter 6, you must choose between aiding Treviso and aiding Minrathous. That choice changes the associated story quest—“On Deadly Wings” or “On Blighted Wings”—and PowerPyx reports that it also changes some companion quest content. The available evidence establishes those consequences at a high level; it does not provide a full item-by-item account of every affected companion scene or quest.
When is the point of no return?
PowerPyx identifies “When Plans Align” in Chapter 11 as the point of no return for the ending sequence. Complete any remaining exploration, Region Quests, and available companion missions before starting it if you want to do that content during the same run. PowerPyx also reports that choosing Continue after the ending returns the player to the pre-ending state; treat that as guide-reported game behavior, not an official EA guarantee.
